And yet had a top 10 portal class.
Again to be GOOD you recruit highschooler.
To be a champion you need the portal.
And you can be a contender every year, not sustainable. Just like the NFL. You can be GOOD for a long time. But a true contender, you go in waves, windows.
Ohio st had 30% of starters be transfers.
Michigan 45%
Runner up Miami this year was 60% transfers
Oregon was 50/50for starters.
Ole miss? 50% of the 112 roster was transfers.
Its the new trend. In modern college football.
You can win a championship with 60% of your starting roster being transfers. Your never gonna win the championship with the vast majority of your starters being recruits. Because theres always gonna be that 1 team that out spends.
Spending doesn’t guarantee a championship.
But not spending guarantees that you wont.
Michigan, never worried about not having a top ~30 recruiting class. Thats rare.
But im way more worried about having a top 30 transfer class
People are living in the past if the don’t think NIL/portal is the key to winning in todays NCAA. Recruit all the top guys you want, they aren’t going to do you much good if another team comes along and snags them once they become good. And in the mean time you are sinking funds into a guy that you hope pans out (Underwood) instead of a finished product (Mendoza) that can help you win now.
@Snags
Can you add the Michigan football tag to the thread title
Makes these CFB/CBB threads much easier to find than weeding through all the other posts to find this thread.
Let me know if that’s better or not.
Plus that it keeps wolfie from having a meltdown.
17 of the first 20 threads on the site have nothing to do with the Lions. It’s coming.
Wolfie meltdowns

are like sunshine from the Gods!
I don’t see any tags, just the den
Ok fixed.
Finally, a five-star recruit.
The only question really, about this new staff was its recruiting chops. They’re cooking on the recruiting trail!
The 3 star RB they just got a commitment from out of GR area actually has unreal film, no way he’ll be a 3 star when they get done evaluating his SR HS film
@Mongoose ….that’s exactly what Justin Jefferson went through coming out of HS. JJ was rated a 3 star and WE ALL KNOW he didn’t end up with such rating ![]()
