We should stock up on 4th round picks.
Hooker was a 3rd Rd pick, No. 68 overall–five spots short of Rd 2.
I said it in the game day thread and I’ll say it again, Vaki might put Montgomery on the trade block next offseason.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Montgomery and feel like he flew under the radar last year compared to the media attention LaPorta, Gibbs and ARSB got, but if Vaki can prove himself to be as dangerous both running and catching as he appears to be, then we have no need for 3 good RBs. Holmes has traded starters who were running down their contracts before (Hock, Okudah, Swift), and Montgomery could probably bring in a day 2 pick.
Vaki was more a receiver in H.S. than a RB:
107 receptions for 2,203 yards and 32 touchdowns
where my mind went too. 
No reason to do that, you keep DM and then let him go when his contract ends. Vaki is cheap and, tbh, DM isn’t that outrageous either. It’s a violent sport you keep him for the one year.
I like Vaki a LOT and believe he has a lot of talent, but DM has proven for years he can get tough yards behind mediocre OLs. Vaki did a lot of damage against mostly 2nd stringers that didn’t watch film or prepare for him.
I think he can still do a lot in this lions offense where St. Brown, LaPorta, Gibbs, and Jamo will get more attention, but I wouldn’t be ready to give up David Montgomery yet…
Was a beast catching the ball in HS…his college coach said he thought his best position was WR…yet he played safety most of his college career. Barely even played RB. Exciting player.

Monty will only be 28 in 2025…
and is due a now modest $6 million in new money.
Any decent RB was getting more money this year in UFA.

Another point on Vaki… He’s looked good with the backup oline. Just wait until he has a bunch of pro bowlers and all pros blocking for him.
As much as we loved Swaggy… he was known for leaving yards out there that many RBs get.
Vaki looks like a guy that will get those yards….
either by avoiding contact… or breaking tackles.
We will keep him at least through his current contract. That cat aint’ going anywhere. Love him.
I’d like to see him run some more sophisticated routes this week. Seemed against the Chiefs. He had a pretty easy underneath dump off routes and was waiting there wide-open
