Vega Ioane OG, what are your opinions on him?

I was wondering why there is so little discussion on him?

Because the Lions have a team of guards and Sewell.

So unless he has become a top 5 NFL center there is no point

We are desperate for a tackle and we are ok at guard. Not sure what else there is to discuss.

We may need a guard to compete with Mohogs and Frazier, but it’ too early to pick him at 17. And he won’t be around at 50. If the tackles don’t shake out at 17, I’d rather go Edge, DL, DB, LB, or even RB/WR before still another guard.

Great player would love the pic, rather have him as a blue chip, then taking a lesser tackle

He’s gonna be the bpa at 17 over any edge! He’s got all-pro written all over him. You run to the podium and dont look back. He’s that good! He fits the nasty physical type that Brad and Dan love

I still like the idea of Sewell & Pregnon on the left side of the line. If we can get him round 2

Mahogs backup G

Frazier multiple position backup

Scruggs backup C

McLaughlin backup C

Kayode gone

I honestly think people should be ready for him to be the pick. I don’t think having Frazier and Mahogany would keep Brad from choosing him if they have him high on the board.

yeah , I never know what we’re going to do, who they will pick, here, we kind of get a good idea , who WE would draft, but they often times choose otherwise , and sprinkle in some WTF-type picks along with it, then we sit around , post draft asking why they picked who we did, and making it ā€œ oh those were great.ā€ ā€œSB here we come.ā€ , we justify all their selections, usually without much fuss. Again , I do not have a draft favorite this season, so I kind of am going with the flow this year.

If you think he’s the second coming of Quenton Nelson - and some people seem to - then you take him no question. I think he’s much closer to a Steve Avila type personally, and while he’s a really good player, he went in the 2nd round. I just can’t justify taking a guy like that at 17 myself, even in a down year.

I’ve watched some games where I focused on him in the run and pass game. I’m not enamored with his athleticism. He’s rather clunky. He isn’t a great puller. Hard to imagine him getting to those reach blocks if needed vs pro DTs. But, in our system, he may do well. He’s a power guy. And I like his anchor.

He doesn’t look like a top 20 prospect in my eyes. I’d get him in the 2nd-3rd rounds, which sounds ridiculous. But, had there been a better OLine class: He wouldn’t be considered as the best IOL prospect.

It’s fine and thank you for answering in an honest way. I chuckle a little bit, because we had an ER room full of injuries in 25, we were calling warm bodies up to limp through the season. at the end, both lines were in question-the O-line, was the easier of the two to fix, I’d say we are on our way -if/not almost complete in that area to battle in 2026. Full stop, I had said, a few times, that I was not sure that we could strengthen our defense, complete it, so we are North of the low 20’s or worse in one offseason. I understand and comprehend, that we haven’t drafted ā€˜ yet ā€˜ I’ll say we will make some strides in improving our defense, yet I think it will be unfinished , and be hit again by the injuries. right now, I’m thinking ten/eleven , wins.

Yea no interest in a guard at all.

LT. Sewell, Manu (more than good enough)
RT Borom, Miller (NEED upgrade)
C Mays, Scruggs, Neise (Good enough)

Guards
Ratledge, Fraizer, Hogs, Batch, McLaughlin, (Sorsdal lol) thats more than Deep enough

Maybe because you value athletic ability and Ros scores, he is better then you say. And way better then Steve Avila imo, every board I see he is top 20. Not that that means a lot, but most scout have a different opinion then you do. And he is not the second coming of Nelson either, but he is a dominant blocker.

I think there is a very good chance that Ioane is the best player on the board when we pick at 17. Watching Pacheco run the ball right between Sewell and Ioane about 7 or 8 times in a row might break the will of a few teams in our division. I would love to see it.

My gut feeling is if this is the pick, then perhaps Dan and the staff like Frazier at ROT. Maybe they feel between him and Borom they are better at OT than we, the fans, do.

If f that is the case - then you have Tate and Hogs as your OG without much else (Juice?). Is so then Ioane as the BPA does make more sense. Take a guy you feel you can build around instead of the 4th best OT you don’t necessarily love.

I do wonder about Ioane and Sewell next to each other on the left side for the next 10 years. Wow.

I think there is a good chance the Ravens could draft him ahead of us.

IF he is BPA, and he might be, I have zero issue.

It always depends on how the draft falls, which is ā€˜usually’ somewhat predictable with a few disruptive surprises tossed in to make us all look like fools.

Brad love BPA, and one we aren’t elite in yet. If Vega falls to us, he is my predicted pick.
