I am happy for DC fans. Not past Lions level, but they’ve suffered through some bad football teams recently. This team seems fun.
I’ll just say that I absolutely believe that Dan knows there is a time to motivate his players publicly. He’s never going to do it as a scapegoat, but he will absolutely say publicly things that need said to push the right buttons.
He has, I agree, but at least so far it’s been under the “he knows he needs to play better,” type of public motivation. He used it on Goff, even. But it’s more of a general thing, less specific. I’ve never heard him say “so-and-so blew it,” or anything like it. In fact 9 times out of 10 he takes the blame for it. The “I should have coached them better” approach. And players love him for it.
Well, one thing we know is that it won’t be a “blanket party” like Full Metal Jacket.
He mentioned Gibbs having missed a protection today. Obviously it’s a lot easier to hear that on a weekend you set the field ablaze, but I don’t think he’s afraid to apply external pressure when appropriate.
I think part of this discussion is you and I don’t know what other discussions there have been, and yet we’re discussing it with certain yet separate presuppositions. I would never expect to see Dan publicly embarrass someone, I would, though, expect it in conjunction with making other attempts to get that player to his ceiling.
Also, it depends on the player. I’m sure there are things that could be said publicly about Houston that would absolutely fracture their relationship and that player’s confidence. There are certain personalities that could handle this… that demand this.
Well my original statement was basically “Dan would never do what Eberflus just did,” which I still stand by.
Stevenson was show boating before that and as a result was late to the play.
Dude should get in the dog house.
Karmas a bitch.
There’s a whole lot about Eberflus that Dan would never do. Such a huge difference. He’s dead man walking.
I thought Eberfus would be a better HC than he is. I think you liked him more than most too.
Goes to show you that not everyone is cut out to lead.
I sure did. I loved some of his interactions with the media during covid in discussing the way the roster was constructed in Indy. I still think he’s a smart dude, but probably better as a teacher than a leader. The Chicago media are savage. They talk to him like they do over-the-air during their programs. Zero respect.
Dude. I’m totally cutting that guy today. Goodbye.
Chicago head coach said they practiced this 100 times, maybe because Stevenson paying attention to detail made them practice 100 times . Also icing on the cake he tiped the pass to receiver😂
I liked him too. Seems like a good coach and he was highly respected.
But he seems over his head in CHI and I do not think he was ready to be a HC. He might not be cut out for it either.
Some HCs do a good job of grooming their staff to be promoted. Some don’t. He might not have had the proper training.
This sure seems like the case. He might have done better in a better environment. That place is a wreck.
But… he does have a defense playing well, except for a certain knucklehead at DB.
He should be in the doghouse but I doubt he is.
The Bears have talent but it’s undisciplined.
I think they need a coaching change unfortunately
