Ok. Clean slate. Focus can be completely on free agency and the draft. Dates for combines, the pro-days, free agency now can come into full focus.
It will be interesting this year, because no longer will the Lions be the sexy dark horse pick. The moves they make this offseason is geared towards winning the Super Bowl, not the NFC North.
In the end, and yes this is with full 20/20 hindsight available, I am happier to have seen the team lose in the NFC Championship game rather than the Super Bowl. The '49ers really look like they shot their wad last night. The āBrock Purdy is a game managerā storyline isnāt going away without a championship, so they will have to deal with that going forward. Shannahan has now lost twice in the Super Bowl as a head coach, and will have the ācanāt win the big oneā stigma firmly attached to him. The Lions however, are on their upward trajectory, and gave themselves some more wiggle room by not āover-over-achievingā this year.
So on to the 2024 season!
