O-line/D-line/DB should be drafted EVERY year in your top 4-5 picks IMO. You need a constant infusion of these positions to maintain a winning team year after year.
DB - Mainly a sub package type, Slot Corner, Box Safety, but we’re looking for a versatile chess piece to help us with sub packages. That could be a CB, S, etc
LB - Not any LBer but a coverage LB… a smaller sub package LBer.
I keep trying to figure out how not to draft an offensive tackle round one but it never works out. No idea other than it makes perfect sense to take an OT round one. There should be a talented one left. It also means Brad will pull a Brad special like Amon Ra in the 4th or Branch in the 2nd.
I think the only way it doesn’t happen is if the guys they like most are gone.
There should be 5-6 OT’s go round one but only 3 are plug and play starters. The others might not be able to beat out Borom to start right away and would likely need time to develop before they could.
So if the Lions lose out on the top 3 guys and aren’t able to trade up. I think they try to trade down.
But I am told there’s several defensive players they like at 17 too and that the Lions could take one of them and then try to move up in round two to grab the developmental OT.
