I really was worried about getting a pitbull because I never had one and we had two small dogs at the time. As it turns out I was totally wrong yet again. He has been the most well behaved, sweetest, most gentlemanly towards the little dogs, happiest Murder Dog known to mankind. Picked up on the side of the road at 4 mos old.

We had to say goodbye to our rescue pittie a few weeks ago. She was around 14 and had been in decline for about a year. As she kept getting weaker and having a harder time walking we decided it was better to put her down now instead of waiting for her to break a leg or dislocate a knee. She kept falling when trying to get on or off the couch, and was too stubborn to give up on laying on the couch of course. And doggie steps? She regarded those as an insult. The old girl lived on her terms right to the end.
So sorry buddy. So tough. 14 years is really good for these dogs though. No doggie steps for him either, doesn’t like em.
Khan has currently a fully blown right ACL and a partially torn left ACL that preceeded it. We did PRP injection for the partial in September and they did the right at the same time, because they often blow the good one compensating. Yup, sure did. The TPLA surgery to fix the ACL for good is $5-6K per knee
Seeing if we can do both at same time. No arthritis, no hip dysplasia. Water therapy treadmill and half mile walks, carprofen, dasaquin, high end supps and food……but no running, no off lead at all, no tug of war, no car rides except vet/therapy and today’s treats.
Sorry again, they give us their best even through the worst.
My Granddogger has a blown ACL. (Must be a pit thing?) It doesn’t seem to be causing her much pain?
My son has a pitty. He thought he had a shepador, but his girlfriend (now wife), who trains dogs, thought she was pit bull, so he had her tested and sure enough, she’s over 2/3 pit bull. She is the only dog in my life I ever cared for. She knows me immediately, even if I haven’t seen her in a year. She starts crying and yelping in the car on the way to my house. There is such a connection that i’ve never had with any other dog. She’s also well-behaved around my grandsons and other dogs, but at the same time takes no shit.
Stella is now going on 13 years old and slowing down. I dread the day we lose her.
It is weird that so many pitties are lovable and great with people, children and other animals. Yet its well-documented that the breed is the most dangerous in terms of fatal attacks on humans…there really is no debate on that. I don’t know what to make of it. All I know is I love that dog like no other.

I think they are poorly used by some bad people, which gives them a bad reputation. It is such a shame!
I guy I know had a ‘dog whisperer’ come to his house, and said: “there are no bad dogs, just bad dog owners.” I’m not sure if that’s 100% true, but I believe the owners have a massive impact on dog behavior (good or bad).

Just wish more people understood the breed … and treated/respected them as if they were bred to kill other dogs, or any other creature that triggers them. And unlike a lot of other dog breeds, they specifically have the teeth, jaws, muscle, stamina, desire to complete the job.
They are certainly loving towards their owners or non-threatening creatures. Really incredibly sweet around the house.
Exactly. It’s not that Pitbulls are meaner than any other dogs. It is that they are just much more effective at being mean. A chihuahua would kill most of us in a second, if they had the chance.

They are so protective of their owners. I inherited my Grandpa’s two dogs. One is a husky, the other is half pit/half lab.
A few years ago someone broke into my Grandpa’s house. Before he could get his gun and get out of bed that dog had the intruder 100% incapacitated. She is also the sweetest dog I have ever seen. I love the shit out of both of them. They have become my best friends.
