So I’m not sure what to do. My step father has previously worked in the NFL and his brother is the equipment manager of an AFC team. They worked through the Lions equipment manager to get my wife and I tickets to the Bears game on Nov. 19. My dilemma and question is this… I got the tickets today and they are section 238, row ADA. The ADA seats are for those with disabilities or handicap. Am I even able to sit in those seats? Any suggestions on what I should do?
Your handle is “Lionfansincebirth”, that right there qualifies you.
I’d love to hear the answer to this. A couple years ago, i went to a Magic-Pistons game, and unknowingly bought ADA seats. It wasn’t a sell out. I showed them to the usher and he sat us right down without a second look. I would have given them up if I needed to, but no such drama. They were pretty nice seats.
My cousins neighbor is has a disability and has season tickets to the tigers. Ada seats.
He gives them to us from time to time. NEVER had an issue.
I think its only an issue when it comes to buying tickets first hand. But buying resale is fine.
You get to the same answer my buddy @Air2theThrown got for his dilemma.
Do the right thing. Give me the tickets and I’ll properly dispose of them.
I would just rewatch Usual Suspects and practice your Verbal Kint limp legged walk. It’s a handy tool.
Tell the usher you are a Cowboys fan and your wife is your caregiver. Make like you are cheering for the Cowboys during the game.
Most Cowboys fans already have special needs…so no need to act. Just carry on like normal. Ha ha
This.
Per ADA site:
Ticket Transfers and Secondary Ticket Market
An individual with a disability who has a ticket for an accessible seat may transfer it to anyone, including someone who does not have a disability. Venues cannot require that accessible seats only be transferred to someone with a disability.
Thank you everyone!
we had very similar tickets because i was going to take my grandfather to a game, who was in a wheelchair, against chicago as well, back in 2003. Unfortunately he passed just over a week before the game, but we still went. Nobody said anything they just honor the tickets. It was hard to go but bittersweet because at least the lions won.
At the silverdome (yeh way back) my dad was in a wheelchair so we had ada area seats. I never remember them all being used at any game we went to and there were a few sold out games. So there should still be seats available in those sections for those who need them.
On a different note… pushing into the stadium was hard as hell and holding him in the seat on the way out was like holding onto a rocket.
You can sit in those seats but it’s possible one seat will be a folding chair depending on what your seat numbers are.
If one is a folding chair you can always contact the Lions ticket office and they can move you.
My advice is to keep the seats regardless but those are your options.
Feel free to PM me if you’d like more info on the Situation… I have ADA seats.
Yeah but if he gives them to you and he bought them for himself, if you go in his place, there will never ever be a conflict of interest.
I presume whoever bought or obtained those tickets for the OP got them in a similar way. Or perhaps they were initially put up for sale as disability seats for some period of time and when they weren’t purchased by people with disabilities maybe they go back to general public for general sale???
The organization probably has policies like this or it c/would become a problem for them.
Doesn’t work that way. Each stadium has to provide a certain percentage of seats to accommodate ADA customers. Just like each company has to have so many parking spot for them.
But the OP is fine using them without any issue.
