What music have you been listening to lately?

I’m way behnd on this thread, but had to bring this up. This song is so special to me. I was in college and had a pretty good summer financially, putting air conditioners together on an assembly line in a Westinghouse factory. I made more money than I ever had so went out and bought an Onkyo integrated Amp, Technics turntable, and Bose speakers - there went half the money i saved for college.

The first song my friends and I christened that sweet system with was “One of These Nights”. We cranked it up and I still get chills thinking about those clear yet thumping sounds that was brand new to every one of our ears, even though we had heard that song many times before. We looked at each other with wild wide eyes and totally open mouths. We never knew a song could sound so good, like nothing we ever imagined.

I’m fortunate enough to still see some of those guys, and invariably we bring up how sweet “One of These Nights” sounded.

Were they 301s or 901s?

Was at a beatles tribute band called Across the universe last Friday. They don’t dress up like them, just play the music from 67 onwards. Had 17 performers on stage , brass section, quartet etc. Absolutely brilliant. Check them out on YouTube if you are a big beatles fan . Another great beatles band are the analogues.

501’s. Also now have a pair of 301’s and 201’s.

I’ve had 901s and numerous pairs of 301s. The 301s were one of the best value speakers ever made when it comes to sound vs price. I had 1 pair for 20 years and went on to buy and flip 6 more pairs after refoaming the woofers. All of them sold for more than their original new price.

Yeah - Bose is a fantastic company. I remember dealing with them in the 90’s when I sought to repair or refoam my original 301’s. They asked me for the serial number on my 301’s and immediately offered to send me a reconditioned pair if I sent mine back to them, so they could do “research” on them. They were very excited to receive them, and I got a reconditioned pair that looked brand new; they’re still going strong.

I only ever had 501s. Button fly. Best ever. Girlfriend liked them nearly as much.

@thats2 was telling me about them. They remind me of Battles more so than anyone. The early part of their catalogue specifically.

Solo stuff from the late singer of the Screeming Trees. Terrific song IMO.

I like classical music, especially movie soundtracks. I tend toward the sci-fi/fantasy realm generally but there are great soundtracks everywhere.

sometimes tho I’m attracted to one track from something. I love the intro to alien: prometheus. it’s very expansive and something that could be played as you view vast open areas of wilderness or traveling thru space.

and a lot of people consider conan the barbarian as one of the ‘perfect’ soundtracks in movies, by basil pouledorous, but I’m always drawn to the orgy music (the scene aint bad either..) it’s just very ‘waltz-like’ to me, conveying beauty and pleasure with an underlying of evil.
