What’s for dinner?

The price should have been a warning sign… Wagyu is crazy expensive. Probably fake Wagyu at that price.

I agree with much of what you said. I usually buy the Costco 80/20 hamburger. I’ve made really good hamburgers and burgers that I wasn’t really satisfied with. I still like to experiment with different seasonings and cooking methods.I do like them on an open flame though. I have a Bug Horn broiler that I like. It’s infrared and gets to 1500°F. It puts a nice crust on them. It’s really great for reverse-searing steaks. But there’s something to be said for the taste when the burger grease is dropping into the flames. There’s nothing like it. Also love cooking over charcoal.

I was able to buy one of those park charcoal barbecue pits. That thing was fantastic. You could lower the metal grates right down on top of the hot coals. I left that with the house when I sold it. But I would definitely buy another one.

They sell at Costco for $144.

Buy a couple of heads of broccoli and a few red peppers.

Chop them up when you get home.

Now you’ve got the makings of easy breakfast omelettes and stir fries for the week.

I had WagYou at the cheap Chinese takeout in PawPaw.

No kidding. We had the dinning package. It was like 300 plus that was in 2019

Costco sells certified Wagyu A5 Filets for $175 / lb. I just couldn’t spend that money in good conscience. I would rather just leave that much more to my heirs to be honest. Then they can buy Wagyu steaks. :joy:

Ah, I haven’t been. Always like to go to good steakhouses on the company dime. I’m too cheap with my own money. :joy: I buy the Costco whole tenderloins and cut them into 6 - 8 oz filets. Cutting it up feeds my demons. But lately I have been finding them less expensive at Gordon Foods. They probably need to be cleaned up a little bit more than Costco‘s but it’s about $5 a pound cheaper. I find tenderloin is pretty much the same if I buy it whole at Costco, Gordon foods, or even Kroger. It’s just a great cut of meat.

My wife and I use cast iron, almost exclusively. 2 - 9" pans. 2 - 12" pans. 4 qt dutch oven.
Tonight it will be a crock pot of black beans and smoked sausage soup. My favorite winter comfort food.
