Theres been a lot of money for the last 18 months and they havent done anything.
A lot of the Arb guys are gonna get massive raises.
Lets just say thats $10m
Urquidy getting a $3m raise
Sewald getting 4m raise
dobnak $3m raise of dead cap.
Berbbia $1.3m raise of dead cap
Call that $25m total increase
Cobb, Torez, montero Kahnle, paddock, Finnigan all coming off the books. $~60m
5m cheaper.
Morton and Maeda off books $25m
So roughly low ball it 60m lower payroll the current
So ~$100m payroll.
But now your down
1 decent bat
1 RP
1 SP/RP
JUST to fill those voids thats gonna push you back UP to $145m+
Then to get this team BETTER? Your gonna need to sign another 30-40m to be a real contender.
I dont see any world where Chris is gonna let Scott get this team to be a top 10 payroll. Which is where it NEEDS to get to be a true contender.
Or have all the prospects actually play up to what we want them to be (how Milwaukee and Seattle are so good)
Please tell us the 2 good bats we are getting for 30 mill. You have to spend close to 30 to get one decent bat. Then they are 32 and they want 7 years.

I would happily take a guy that can hit, yet plays average SS, versus a guy like Sweeney that sucks at everything.

If you want to keep skubal. Cool. After that and Arb guys getting raises. They are already over $100m in payroll.
And to get this team to a real contender.
They need 2 more GOOOD bats and 1 GOOD SP and 1 - 2 more decent RP.
Sucks Jobe got hurt. Because that caused a massive hole in the rotation.
But the bats is the main problem.
And the only way to get all that is push $200m payroll. Not happening under chris
Your numbers tell me he should sign Skubal, you don’t win in the post season without an ace.
It’s time for Chris to put his big boy britches on and build a contender.

Bo’s issue is if you hit it right to him he’s good. But horrible range. Which is only made worse by all the lower body injuries. He used to have speed a years ago. He runs like Kirk now

If they don’t find a way to pay him, well, I think I’d have to be done with baseball. There’s no chance of us being at this level (which is still short of ideal) without Skubal. A Skubal comes around very rarely. It would be like the Cowboys not paying Micah Parsons.

It happens. Give them a chance. Sign Skubal.
Far worse IMO. Skubal is about to win back to back Cy Young’s. Best pitcher in the game. Parsons aint even a 3 down player.

Skubal is a hell of a lot more dominant than Parsons. Parsons is so overrated. Generational my a**. The only thing holding Skubs back is other guys have to pitch.

I think its a fair comparison.
Parsons plays in ~30% of all the snaps in a game.
Skubal plays in 13% of all innings in a season.
So again. Sign skubal fine.
But they need to make the 87% of the rest of the Game better!
