Feels like the Jets are the most likely trade partner for the Lions. Glenn needs Detroit Football players and have almost no chance for this season. Lions need a starting caliber CB.
I could see Glenn asking for 2-3 developmental players for Sauce + say 2 lower draft picks. Basically try to get 4 depth players for 1 proven but expensive or aging vet.
They need OL for sure. What else do the Jets need? The Lions have some developmental OL that I’d think are expendable. Definitely a RB or LB. Maybe a WR.
The Lions have enough depth built that they can spend some to get a player they need.
For instance Malcom Rodriguez is close to coming back. That likely affects a LB currently on the roster or he might be available to trade. The lions are rich at RB with Vaki fighting injuries and an aging Reynolds. I’d think either would be tradable unless you want to do Saylors who is doing a lot of ST right now.
My guess is that Glenn, a former DB, views Sauce as a cornerstone to what he’s trying to do. I’m also not sure Sauce is our type of guy (could be wrong).
If they do part with Sauce, it’d require at least a package of picks and a player or two.
Rodrigo is interesting. I think he could be part of that conversation. But it’d definitely be more than him. Maybe Reader or Brock Wright as well? I dunno, just throwing out ideas at this point.
Isaac Yiadom is playing Nickel for NO. He’s currently got a low grade hammy issue. He was awesome outside for NO back end of 2023 Bit was not good for SF in 2024. He has been an elite gunner in the past if we want/need that. He’d be cheap. Obviously an imperfect solution between health and uneven CB play. He does fit that Carlton Davis style even though he is the Great Value brand version.
Sucks that the Raiders already traded Jakorian Bennett to the Eagles for very little.
Our old friend Qwan’tez Stiggers is now CB5 on the Jets after their acquisition of Jarvis Brownlee. Too bad Brownlee was moved before all of this went down.
What about Rasul Douglas? Still putting up good numbers for the downtrodden Dolphins, at least according to PFF. Only just turned 30, contract is cheap and only 1 year
