What do you think about him deputizing inside? Not a necessity, I know, but it would be a nice bonus.
Right I think CB is probably further down the board for us. I still find Revel incredibly appealing - I think the tape + traits is borderline top ten - but the age and injury would probably see me going a different direction.
I just can’t imagine a trade down being off the table if we’re realistic about return. Like the 49ers wouldn’t be interested in coming up for Burden to take that Samuel role if the price was affordable? Just one example.
I think it would be fine. I don’t think he’s going to be a people mover but I’d expect an overall upgrade on GG. There are other OTs I strongly prefer inside but none (outside of a healthy Simmons) that are available and I feel as good about as a blindside protector.
From what I understand, that was a gift from the heavens because they were going to take Gibbs at that point before Arizona rescued them with more draft captial…and the rest is history.
Yeah, very true. And I think we might have taken a little less to move down as well iirc.
Actually last year’s 2nd round was really similar. The run before our pick wiped out all of my favorite guys. I thought he did will to get a guy most had ranked a lot higher in Rakestraw, though of course that’s still TBD
Yeah, absolutely plausible. It’s just for any given pick a trade down is one of the least likely options overall, so I’m playing the numbers a bit. It takes two to tango, and unlike all the commenters on reddit who just say “well obviously I’d just trade down in that scenario,” some of the time - most of the time - that’s not the way it really goes.
I think Ersery would probably be a better OG in the interim, though I think his future outside is much cloudier. Plus there’s much more overlap with Manu.
I’d agree with that. And honestly Penei flipping is a viable solution as well and AE should work at RT I’d think. Minny OL give me pause. I get that helmet scouting is supposed to be a big no-no but that’s just my instinct on the matter until proven otherwise.
I would go with one of the safeties Starks or Emmanwori. In this scenario I would fully expect the Lions to race to the podium without even considering trade down options and select DE Jack Sawyer.
In the scenario above my 3 top choices in campbell and jackson and stewart are off the board and i am sprinting to the podium and taking FEMI. I always like the idea of more picks but i think the 4 players mentioned in this post are all huge difference makers and worth the pick at 28.
Very good point. I am always very blunt about this. Im a information guy. Im not a traits guy like you and @CuriousHusker…i find your convos fascinating as hell. If you think jtt is higher then femi…that’s good enough for me.
Ha, well that’s just me. Brad could see it totally differently. And I’m on record as a big Femi fan too, so I’d be pretty happy either way, though I doubt many on here would be.
I would be okay with Sawyer in round 2 but that whole scenario is my biggest fear and we select him in round 1. I would hope 2 WRs, the 2 safeties and at least 1 CB that were not selected in that scenario would actually go ahead of our pick. That would give us more options.
