When Decker returns... will we

When Decker resumes playing, will we continue to see Nelson get some snaps?

I could see the Lions running a few plays a game with an extra O-lineman to give a different look on offense.
Nelson has experience in the past as a TE, and may be just athletic enough to be a sneaky option on short yardage play action passes. And… if they run it really well with the 6 O-linemen package, they might get a defense to bite and hit a hit ball on play action.

Was already thinking about before today. The Ravens occasionally go with a jumbo group, and the Bengals shoved Jacksonville around on their 2nd scoring drive tonight. Might be worth a look for the Lions.

When I saw Sewell go in motion on that trick play I felt immediately like they are going to have some packages with him as TE.

Look, if the dude can’t play RT, why do you think he’ll be able to play TE?

Who do you think he is, Kyle Pitts?

We actually used a 6th o-lineman vs the Ravens several times. Will Holden played 7 snaps as a 6th o-lineman in week 3.

From Pride of Detroit.

“The Lions opted to put in a third offensive tackle quite often against the Ravens, adding an extra level of protection for Goff against the blitz-heavy Ravens defense”

I expect Nelson to move into that roll for sure when Decker is back.
