I would be shocked with a G/C limited OL player.
If it were a college OT that could play immediately at OG and provide insurance at OTā¦ then I wouldnāt be surprised.
Iām in agreement with @Thats2 on this oneā¦.
That would be Barton. Has tackle size at 6ā5 310. Played left tackle at duke but is projected to be a better guard or even center. If he has the athleticism to backup the tackle spots but excel on the interior thatās absolutely worth the 29th pick to me.
I personally donāt think Barton can hold up at T in the pros. Heās gonna have very short arms. Heās my favorite of the early OG/OC types (more so than JPJ for sure), but I think thatās all he is.
For me the OT/OG types are Mims, Latham, Kingsley, Fautanu (maybe), Amegadjie, etcā¦ Would really love it if Mims fell to us.
Our 3rd could get us up to '23 potentially. By jumping Dallas we could get Mims. Iād do that. I think heās a top ten type of talent. He just suffers from inexperience and a loaded class. But IMO heās the most naturally talented of the tackles in this class.
Agreed. I have Alt first then Fashanu and Mims basically tied for next. The fact that he regularly falls anywhere near us blows my mind.
In theory the OL portion of the combine should be unusually interesting. Quite a few massive guys that can move. At least I they look like they can.
Gibbs is going to explode.
Rooks? I have to go with Sorsdal #1, it will not surprise me if heās starting by mid-season. Guard is not a splashy position, but if he matches the play of Jonah, itās a huge win. I believe he will.
#2- A.Green, going from a 0 to a Reynolds upgrade in year 2. Goff and Green get timing down and he becomes a viable 3-4 with a 500-600 yard season. From his draft position to the lack of play LY, this is a huge win for a late round pick.
Itās going to be hard to see the top 3 (Sam, Branch & Gibbs) take a big leap, just keep getting better, but they had such great rookie seasons, they will be hard pressed to make big leaps from great seasons.
Campbell? Love me some Jack! I see him having an improved season, but I see his break out year in season 3. Jack needs some seasoning to be able to play to his natural instincts. He will have another good year and improve upon LY, but IMO his breakout season will be year 3.
You donāt think Barton could hold up as a starter but what about the emergency swing role? Can he hold up for a game or two? I havenāt watched much of the kid.
Eh, maybe. Heās got the smarts and the experience, but man heās really built like an interior lineman. I certainly wouldnāt want to stick him out there as an inexperienced rookie, so even if I did think he could eventually do a job in a pinch (like 3-4 years into his career), it wouldnāt solve the problem this year imo. And it might really hurt his confidence.
Which is too bad, cause I really love him as a prospect overall. I think heās got the goods to be a superstar inside. That said if he could also play tackle heād probably be going top ten, soā¦
Me too. It really opens up the tricks for BJ.
