Since LaPorta, Branch, and Gibbs played 2023 at an already high level, Jack Campbell has the most upside and room for improvement.
The only one I would rule out is LaPorta because there’s not much more upside than what he’s already shown. Campbell is the logical choice but I wouldn’t be shocked if BB plays at an all-pro level next year, so I wouldn’t rule Branch (or Jah) out.
Edit: or what That’s2 said below. Man I hope its BroMart, that would solve alot of issues.
Technically Bromart, Sorsdal and Green do, since they rarely got to play.
Holy sheet, totally forgot about them!
I think it will be between
BroMart, Campbell, & JaMo
I give Sordsol more credit than most… while I dont see him as a starter, he was solid in backup duty → lots of growth for him too though.
Big BM is going to majorly increase his snap count next year, and I think he’ll really start making his mark about halfway through the season.
Marking his territory!!!
This is where you and I differ in opinion. My take is that sorsdal didn’t look outmatched when he played. Impressive given the small school he played for and how raw he is. Give him strength training and technique and I believe he’s going to look like a different player next season. Maybe the season after but I believe he’ll develop into at least a solid backup/spot starter.
I’ll put my vote down for bromart. Another year in the weight room alongside McNeil and a healthy onwuzurike and he’ll take a big step.
I had a big BM make its mark this morning. Felt like a workout.
Campbell has the absolute right mindset and ability to be a force next year. He has some of the highest potential of anyone on defense, IMO.
I think he really started to come on strong as a run defender, but definitely struggled in coverage. Next year he pushes for a pro bowl.
Yeah, but I don’t think any of those three has much upside.
I think Bromart and especially Sorsdal could surprise.
Dan has to know there are limits to the initials game. Just like Julian Okwara and Jeff Okudah should never be called JO, though their play justified it. It’s just bad for morale…
Heresy!!! Why do you hate Brad???
I’m really looking forward to Hooker in camp/preseason.
I could totally see it working out that way.
I hope we are both wrong and he makes all pro next year playing next to decker.
I think he will continue to improve & develop for at least a couple more years. We won’t know his ceiling for awhile.
I hope we can have a great backup guy that can play C/G wether it’s Sordsol or someone else.
I’m with ya on strength development too. He was solid last year.
I wouldn’t be shocked at all if Holmes took a kid like powers-Johnson or Barton from duke with that 29th pick. Big physical kids that can play guard and center. It upgrades the talent and gives us flexibility if ragnow can’t go. Hell……one of these guys may even be another ragnow for all we know. Just keep making sure we have one of the best offensive lines in football and I’m happy.
