Alex Anzalone ?
Derrick Barnes?
Malcom Rodriguez ?
Sonny Styles ?
My guess is Rodriguez or a draft pick. We’ve already been interviewing several LB prospects at the combine…
Bols!
I better get in shape…

Oh I saw you tonight…

Kyle Louis hopefully
Ernie Sims
Anzalone is the only LB we have that can cover anyone. In obvious passing downs LBs should not be on the field if they can’t cover and they can’t rush the passer. We are the only team dumb enough to keep 3 LBs on the field every down. We need a scheme change that will add some speed in coverage and somebody with some twitch in the front that can get to the QB
Right, that’s why if we’re adding a LB it’s got to be a real mover who can cover. Styles would be great, but he’s likely gone. That’s one of the reasons I love Kyle Louis, he solves all of our problems.
We’re do you see Louis going ? I see him in the 2nd now at times ?
I hate to take another LB in the 1st RD, but this Defense needs a coverage LB desperately if Alex doesn’t return. I’m like Bubba, there not one on our roster with out Alex. So Styles is always sitting there and is head and shoulders better then guys available. So with that giant need, it has me taking him quit often
What simulator are you using that he’s always sitting there. The vast majority of the ones I use he’s long gone. I like using mockdrafthero.com because you can choose different big boards to create the player list. They have PFF, PFSN, Draft Tek, and the NFLMockDraftDatabase to choose from. And you can switch in the middle of a mock
Mock draft Database, PFSN, Stick to the Model, Draft hero. On the clock, draft buzz.
PFSN, stick to model and Draft Hero and on the clock you can get different boards.
I read where stick to the model went to a pay structure.
I still don’t know how you’re getting Styles in all of these, he’s gone in every one I use except PFN. Either way I really expect he won’t get near us on any of them once they update next week after this combine performance
IMO, Anthony Hill Jr. fits the bill of what we’re looking for. The problem is 17 is too early and 50 will be too late (according to most projections)
Well it’s getting less but took him 2 times yesterday, but today I just tried lime 5 and he was gone from to 15 today
He fits the athletic aspect of it, he just doesn’t have the instincts I prefer in a LBer. In coverage he’s really more of a spot zone dropper - and a very good one - but he overreacts to every little movement from the offense. TEs with good route-running will work him over. I admit I saw someone comp him to Kenneth Murray and it’s been very difficult for me to get that image out of my head.
I think Kyle Louis is perfect for yall as is Jake Golday.
I think Kyle Louis is precisely what we need but he’s a significant departure from what we have targeted in the past.
Get him and one of the burners out of a fast group of secondary players (Stukes, Ponds, Payne, Rivers, Kilgore, etc.) and the team speed on defense takes a badly needed jump.
I wish Elarms-Orr was better in coverage, he’s clearly a good enough athlete.
It just goes to show there’s really an instinctive aspect of being good in coverage as a LB. Good athlete doesn’t mean good cover man. In fact they may not correlate at all, except that it’s difficult to be good in coverage if you’re a BAD athlete (man coverage, at least), so there’s probably an athleticism threshold.
Then again, maybe it’s more possible to improve than I think. Anzalone wasn’t a great cover guy coming out, but he became a very good one in the league, at least until this past year. I wouldn’t call Nick Bolton great in coverage, but it was a liability coming out. This really may be one of those the absence of evidence isn’t the evidence of absence situations, coverage as a LB seems to take a while to master.
Which is why, despite the coverage lowlights on his tape, I think Trotter has quite a bit of coverage upside. There are some flashes that show he can do it, and most guys can’t say that.
That said he’s probably not a WILL for most teams, but then neither is Anzalone. He would probably work there for us.
