I don’t feel old for a reason. Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman both have remained as youthful as someone their age can by doing this. “Don’t let the old man in.” You let the “old man” in by letting life pass you by. If you embrace your life with a positive attitude and a willingness to do what it takes to stay healthy, you’re in a good spot. I take people younger than me to their doctors visits all the time. Here’s the deal, you can be fat or smoke, you don’t get to be both and if you are the ticking clock is winding down faster than you think.
I recently joined a gym through the “Silver Slipper” program. I know it’s sneaker but I call it that to convince my daughters that I’m losing it. I joined because we closed down our dialysis unit at our hospital so now I take people for a 50 minute ride, drop them off, and go to the gym. I have over 6,000 steps in before noon because I also walk to and from work and I ride a Schwinn Airdyne at the gym for 25-30 minutes. Best I’ve felt in 10 years and I’ve dropped 40 in the last 2 1/2 thru diet and exercise. Who knew that shit worked? Ride my bike at home too, starting free weights soon and I can tell you I don’t care if this results in me living 1 day longer, it is a guarantee that for the time I have left I will feel better and THAT, is worth it. I refuse to be a burden on anyone if there is a chance in hell that I control that outcome with my life choices.
