Arizona had theirs on a track and it slides out on Monday after the game and the move it back on on Saturday for the games.
We don’t have the room to install such a system

The Raiders have the same thing
Chubb was an real grass Just saying maybe some listen to much to whiners Ya think?
That Chubb injury was on of those where it wouldn’t matter what surface he was playing on or what era he was playing in. A flying body shot to the knee of a planted leg is ligament hell.
It was a freaking car crash. Though less violent I don’t think with Rodgers’ injury it would have mattered either.
Yeah I don’t know that it would have either. There are other injuries you can probably point to, but not the biggest ones so far.
Head injuries would seem to benefit from going to grass but I don’t have any evidence of that. Just seems rational.
There are almost certainly some instances where a foot stays planted on turf when it would have given on grass, those are the ones that would be the most concerning to me. I know they’ve tried to mimic grass with the rubber pellets or whatever, but according to the players it’s still stickier.
Right. I’ve wondered about that with some of the non contact injuries. The knee or Achilles has had some trauma prior and then they’re simply planting without much force, the foot sticks and that’s the straw that broke the camels back.
Yep, and I bet an in-depth study (which I’m not about to undertake) would prove it.
I thought he meant retractable stadium…not retractable field

My bad
The Raiders have the same thing
They also have a retractable roof as well
I just didn’t realize there were so many posters who knew all the ins and outs of the field grass industry. Like they’ve really investigated this issue.
We litereally have a grass professional on the board. Did you bother reading what he said?
And noone needs to be an expert to see the other problem with a retractable playing surface. Ford Field is land locked unless you are going to tear down buildings or reroute the highway.
Just slide the Tigers playing surface over. Easy.
I mean its not like the playing surface is 45 feet below street level.
Just raise it 45 feet then slide it over to Comerica or better yet the parking structure. I am sure it will grow great there.
The only real solutions are grow lights that are exoensive to run, especially the amount they would need. Or install a retractable roof, but still going to have the same issues in the Winter

Are you suggesting that we have one grass playing surface that rests between Ford Field and Comerica Park that can easily slide back and forth for use in each stadium? BRILLIANT!

The best answers are always the simplest.
Now, engineers, do the insane calculations to make it work. Chop chop!

I went through the 22 posts before mine
I didn’t see where anybody posted their qualifications in the thread
So it looks like a bunch of opinions with counter opinions on if grass is doable.
Are you referring to Cyboden ? That seemed the most detailed.
one of the reasons I ask so many questions is … because we got a lot of experts here.

Yes we do. But rather than listen to them and learn, you choose to question their qualifications simply because your view doesn’t align with what they are saying. So you just keep asking questions aka sea lioning.
