Why I think Anthony Richardson's in play at #6

I do recall that now that I see it. Yet I have also changed since that statement which your post doesn’t acknowledge.

But your post was accurate as you qualified it “early in the year” and I was wrong. Fair enough.

I just find it a humorous response as it has been obvious my opinion changed since that time. Which, with your ability to remember things that far back, would have also been obvious. LOL, but you GOT me.

I think the floor is actually quite lower for Levis. At least with Richardson you’re almost certain to get a better Taysom Hill type.

And to be honest, @Thats2, that may be a lesser factor as well. Richardson would add a lot in high leverage short yardage packages. That’s of course more of a cherry on top than any deciding factor. You don’t take a guy at 6 to be Taysom Hill but if you think he needs two years it’s nice that he at least provides some value in those two years.

You write novels talking about how to play w the money and it is unrealistic

This is all that needs to be known about your takes.

I think the actual wish casting is coming from those who want to keep the door open for a QB at #6….

AR15 - had problems with injuries and 53% completion rate in college. Every running QB was hurt this year.

Stupid question…. Let’s say many of you are COMPLETELY wrong…. Just maybe-

Is it possible that O’Cyrus Torrence was the target? Since we have a 30 year old RG recovering, or maybe not from back surgery, and a guy who has missed half his games in Detroit…. If we count on him in 2023 and he gets hurt again, or worse, can return in the first place…. Then we have a 10M hit for nothing…… more dead cap for him next year, and 2 OG spots to fill in 24!

What if Torrence is considered a top 15-20 pick vs a round two by actual nfl teams?

Doing so would vastly improve RG play over 2 of last 3 years right? It would save over 11M over the next 2 years.

It would put us in a more comfortable spot in considering what to do with Jackson too.

Every team including the Saints, with a run first QB, still need a QB outside of Philly.

But he can start at a traditional powerhouse in college football’s best conference?

Your take on Richardson is your opinion, and just like mine it could be wrong. There are a lot of very smart football people in Richardson’s corner, just as I’m sure there are quite a few who like you don’t like him at all. But the fact of the matter is either side could be wrong, or he could be somewhere in the middle.

This post wasn’t meant as a prediction over the course of the Richardson’s career. If you can’t see the things people would like about him, so be it. I can, and for that plus the reasons I listed above I think we’ll be in on him. That’s not to say we’ll draft him for sure, just that we’ll have interest.

It’s not a stupid question. You are part of the problem. This is a talking point. It’s possible. Many has said “this is not what I would do, but I could see it happen.” Hell the OP defended the idea w several sound logical points. No one is saying THIS IS WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. We are having a conversation. ITS BRAIN PORN.

@Thats2 already talked about why he doesn’t think Torrance is in play. Not to mention, a guard in the first round would truly be a head scratcher…how can you be taken seriously? Also they like ventral miller and he is a 4-5th rd guy……also Wright is a better fit for the lions and right now he is a second round pick. This has nothing to do w Jonah. I can tell you right now: Jonah ain’t going anywhere

If anyone watches Richardson for any sustained period of time and they don’t acknowledge that they’re seeing some OMG plays then they’re either being disingenuous or don’t know what they’re looking at.

If they however just don’t believe the ability to make the routine play frequently enough is in there then that’s a very legitimate argument.

That’s fine.

So teams line 9-8 Philly can sign- Reddick, CGJ, Bradberry, trade for AJ brown while having 17M in cap space prior to the draft….

But Pratt and CGJ is unrealistic?

I’m sorry but we have seen Romeo, Walker, Harris get 7-14M apy run it back deals…. Now some want Commish, Elliott, And Big V and Romeo back.

Anthony Richardson isn’t an nfl starter. Teams need to find a “ceiling” at qB has 10-12 teams constantly chasing QBs….

Pretending Bijan, Torrence, Skoronski, Van Ness, Wilson, Branch, Gonzalez aren’t good enough prospects indicates a bias toward wanting a high upside QB.

We are truly at a point where sadists NEED TO SEE a guy like Trey Lance end up like Trey Lance before giving up.

Many of you don’t want a RB in round one due to only 5 years of service. I will guarantee at least 2 of these QBs aren’t even decent starters in 5 years.

We were not picking at 6 when these trips were made ? I think we were third an maybe even first.

I’ve said multiple times on this tread that Richardson isn’t the way I would go, and that I would much prefer a DL or CB. That’s the way my bias leans, this accusation is completely unfounded.

I don’t expect Jackson too….

In 2 years we have no LT, LG, RG, QB, RB, WR2, WR3, TE1, DT, NT, LB2, CB1, CB2, SS

I expect LG and QB both to get extensions.

I think Torrence, Chark, and Swaggy plus a late round RB improve our offense from last year.

That’s not a huge investment to keep a top 5-7 offense together and improve.

This is true for most NFL teams. Do you think every team has their current roster locked up for the next 4-5 years? NFL rosters are constantly in flux.

I think people are getting wrapped around the win now so each pick has to contribute this year. Listen I would like to see that also, but the point of the OP is, “Don’t be surprised if Holmes uses a pick for the future”
Now, should it be pick 6OA? Well maybe Holmes thinks he thinks he is working with house money with that pick, another words we got that pick from the RAMS for Stafford, but Goff has worked out extremely well so far so that pick could be used on a future asset, to sustain future success. Everyone knows the lions have 5 picks in the first 81, so using one of those 5 on a position and potential talent that we won’t be in position the following years to take I believe is a possibility.

Holy cow you are all over the place. Pratt isn’t a culture fit he is a TURD. Dudes on the lions team called him out after the playoff game and how he traded the kid.

No it doesn’t. Do you follow any football at all? These are not off the wall takes. Some of the people you are suggesting in the first make no sense for Detroit. THEY LOVE THEIR DEFENSIVE LINE. Who said Gonzalez isn’t worthy? I like Gonzalez? Who on this thread has said they don’t want Gonzalez? @Thats2 clearly said he would go DT and Corner. The only dr worthy is carter. Breesee might not go in the top 20. Not a good sign when they take you out for short yardage and red zone. Who said branch isn’t worthy? A guard in the first makes no sense for Detroit and. a running back given how deep this draft is and how Brad feels about backs In the first.

Jackson will get an extension. I’ll put what I know on the table. Jared Goff Will not get an extension in Detroit. I’ll eat crow. Bookmark it, save it, remind me. I won’t forget. Jared Goff won’t get an extension and if you don’t think the lions are concerned about paying a qb big money and hurting their long term growth then you aren’t paying attention. It is real very real.

Levis doesn’t belong in the same conversation with Richardson, IMO. I think its been done enough that people are starting to get a distorted view of who Will Levis really is as a prospect. He’s not Josh Allen. He’s more of a Mitch Trubisky.

The Saints don’t have a run first QB. Their starters have been Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater, Andy Dalton, Trevor Simeon and Jameis Winston. The guy you are thinking about isn’t the starter, he has a different role on the team. The few starts he has made were due to injuries to the pocket passing starters.

That sucks to hear that Pratt was a poor teammate towards Ossai but emotions had to be running exceptionally high. Not sure that alone makes hik a turd.

Hey, if he jumps up to top and pushes Levis to us so we can make Carolina bleed for spanking us and our playoff hopes on that shitty day, Im all for it.

9, their 2nd and a 2nd next year or we give the pick to LV for less, because f u.
