Why is the Seattle Detroit scoring always high?

So many games all with mad scoring. Yet we have a stout run D and they have one of the best secondaries in the league. Both teams with great QBs, but not Josh Allen or Mahomes. Damn strange.

Given that Seattle had a new coaching staff last night and it was still a high scoring game…the only explanation can be personnel matchups. DK always goes crazy when they play us, and they haven’t ever been able to cover St. Brown.

Ive said it multiple times, but Geno is just the QB kryptonite for us.

Quick passes, quick release, quick reads. Feels like if they tried anything for 20 plus yard, Lions got pressure onto him quickly.

Gonna be the gameplan against us moving forward, quick reads, get the ball out quick, because you know Hutch is on you in like 3 seconds.

We both have some of the best skill position talent in the league… it happens

Stafford did the same against us

was at one point, throwing 2.16 seconds out of the snap.

Thats how disruptive Hutch is tbh, and a very underrated part of the gameplan, teams struggle for big plays against us, we have been good from taking away stuff like the Jamo Touchdown last night (40 yard plus plays)

Kenneth walker is also a beast, really impressive game from him last night.

Cerebral, quick-thinking QBs are something of a foil to AG’s schemes. Honestly, Goff would be too.

Agreed! I was surprised.

With the Lions offense not (yet) being in full gear heading into the game + Seattle switching to a more defensive-minded coach, I thought this would be the game to buck the trend.

Boy was I wrong!

Can’t say I’m disappointed. As much as I love defense and low-scoring games, last night’s game was so much fun to watch. This coaching staff + roster sure does make the Lions a ton of fun.

actually Seattle wouldn’t have hardly scored crap without strange calls from the zebras and their always placing Seattle in the red zone.

I didnt really realize how shifty and quick Walker is.

They think they have their LaPorta in that rookie TE and they have 2 RB and 3 WR. Line isnt as good and our RB are better, but its not far off.

While Id rsther see them than SF (defense), Im hoping they dont get a bye and have to fight through

If we both finish the same position in our division (I’m thinking both in 1st) we will be playing AT Seattle next year.

Tell that to Dallas lol

they had 6 yards rushing at the half. Then three straight td’s to open the second half.

i thought maybe Dan took the ball to open the game because our third quarter offense has been bad. In this game, our defense looked equally bad in the third quarter, and they started running it down our throats. And, yeah, the penalties.

Looks like whatever unit is on the field, we just cant solve the third quarter. We have to adjust to their adjustments more quickly.

Scheme too.

Geno struggles when teams get pressure on him. His OL struggles with Blitz pick-ups. You have to send 5 or more at him from time to time. If you do successfully he makes mistakes.

The Lions choose to send just 4 at him most of the time. I think AG is concerned if he sends more then Gino with exploit his secondary more than he already does. Bottom line is (I think) for AG it comes down to confidence in his secondary. But then he puts his CBs in one on one situations which is odd to me.

In the flip side Sea had a similar game plan for our last two matchups. A quick strike passing game to negate Hutch and Company. This normally wouldn’t work but our pass defense just isn’t good enough.

From the Lions side they know they have to out score Sea and that Sea is going to put up points. So our game plan is more aggressive. It cost us last year but paid off this year.

the score is higher when you have big plays.
the score his higher when the opposition spends most of their offensive snaps down by 2 TDs and having to pass…chunk plays, clock stoppage, and lots of penalties to stoop the clock too…as well as some assistance from officials

Blizes worked kinda…Rodrigo had a sack and Kerby damn well should have. I’ve been critical of AG in the past but he can’t tackle for the players. See Kerby vs Geno. See Barnes vs Dak last year. Great play calls…horrible tackling.
