Why isn't the SuperBowl played on a Saturday?

If you could compare a Superbowl on a Saturday night vs a Superbowl on a Sunday night, then you might have some good data but I don’t think you can compare normal football offered on 2 separate nights in a row and make any correlation to the Superbowl.

No such thing as a holiday in the hospitality industry. Unless of course you work in admin or HR.

Has anyone here been part of the Nielson “sample” referenced below?
How do Networks Know How Many People are Watching a TV Program?.

I would think that is an outdated way of getting this information nowadays…other than those that are watching on an antenna.

I agree that it does seem antiquated. But if it is, how’s it done now?

I remember when we lived in kalamazoo about 5-6 years ago, someone came to the door and wanted us to answer questions about what we watched, then they would mail us things asking us to fill out what we watched… we never did it and I don’t remember if that was specifically the Nielsen stuff but it was all tv and programming oriented

yeah - i wonder about the 'representative sample" part, esp when the sample is such a tiny portion of the larger population.

For sure… it was the weirdest thing because never before and never again has that ever happened to us. Getting surveys in the mail to fill out asking “did you watch HBO this week? What did you watch?” Etc… from what I remember it was a lot of stuff like that. Or, “check off all your favorite tv shows from these channels” kinda stuff… anyway so might not have been the Nielsen thing but it was someone and they were persistent as hell! They would come to our apartment and keep asking us to answer questions about tv…

Side note - I am not a tv watcher, my wife is. I’ll watch football and I’ll stream movies for sure, but as far as day to day tv I don’t watch it. And I always seemed to be the one home when they came by and I would say “you really don’t want to talk to me but my wife will be home later this week, come back and try again.”

It’s a conspiracy against God!! :crazy_face::heart::upside_down_face::pray::+1:

But it backfired as church now a days have SB at church and dropp in worship service during half time!!:laughing::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::sunglasses:

It’s where I’m heading now in fact!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Saturday is the Sabbath and it would be tough to field a team with all of the star Hasidic NFL players observing Shabbat

Jesus, being omnipresent, would probably prefer mobile QBs. #justsaying

Or because he loves us all……

All games would be a tie!!:upside_down_face::heart::pray::+1:

I think it’s also about the hosting city.

The hosting city wants it on Sunday bc then they have people in town an extra night. That’s an extra night of full hotel rooms, restaurants, bars, shopping centers, etc.

Its because all those rich bastards that go to the game do not work like common people. Part of that elitist entitlement.

The NFL does things the NFL’s way. Don’t like it? Don’t watch.
This does seem to be their credo.
They’ve been bleeding “customers” for 20 years and don’t give a shit!
