It is funny that you are seeing a lot of this narrative coming up as the season “predictions” start to roll out. And they all say the exact same thing. They think losing the coordinators will be the death of the team. Not sure why teams think coordinators are higher than the talent on the team. I have always thought the players make the coordinators and that why most go to bad teams as head coaches and fail, some don’t, but most ultimately do.

And yet not a single one of them ever mentions the defense and all the players who were out that will be back is kind of disrespectful to the players and coaches still here.

Good let all the pundits and other teams sleep on the Lions.

Right on Golden. I did a long post about why I expect the Lions to win the North again and it is simple. The Lions have real talent at every level. Period. More than our competitors.

Not enough talk about how other teams in the north added a lot of outside talent and it takes time to gel. New coaches take time to build their program ;Ben Johnson).

OC Morton helped create this offense and he already worked in the building. He isn’t a new voice. Same on defense. And we have the same player core. We are the most consistent team in the North.

A better hot take would have been to just focus on the OL and if it can establish the same running attack post Ragnow and Zeitler.

If the run game takes a big step back then the play action becomes less effective. That would be two big advantages erased this offseason.

I don’t expect Ben to be a big loss. Goff knows the playbook as well as he did. Can Morton be the guy who’s not in the heat of battle like Jared and who can patiently set up looks to fool defenses later in the game. We know a lot of the “creativity” in the trick play department came from assistants (according to Ben). We know Dan has the balls of steel. We just need Morton to play chess not checkers and the Lions can be as good as last year. And, maybe without trying to be the smartest guy in the stadium John can lead us to even greater heights.

Well, the Lions, under DC/BH’s leadership, generate lots of clicks something that didn’t used to be the case.

I think there are questions to be answered with this team, can’t deny that.

I also believe a lot of those answers are on the roster and sidelines.

I think it’s funny how he talked about bears and Vikings getting better and we lost our Coordinators, and have new people, the bears have all new people.

A lot of people sleeping on the players we lost last year, that alone is the biggest boost.

The negative path always the easiest…

We simply don’t know but we do have hope!!

More hop for this year than ever before imho

We win the Super Bowl; go winless or anything in between… my team alway!

Go Lions!! 20-0 until proven otherwise baby

there is ZERO chance this team will collapse or fold in 2025. We have Hutch this season, we have far more depth, we still have a hungry team that doesn’t know the meaning of quit, we still have a VERY SOLID leadership in place, our rooks have experience -or the vast majority of them. and it’s not likely we’ll see the mass injuries that we had in 24. I don’t know if we can beat 15 wins in 2025, but we are NOT going to “collapse”

I spent some time yesterday watch Aiden Hutchinson highlights……omg. Just getting him back healthy is a bigger addition than any subtraction this off season. I really had forgotten how dynamic Hutch is.

Exactly, I heard Todd Haley making the same generalizations about the Lions this morning on Sirius NFL. They want to talk about Ben Johnson leaving, but then don’t want to talk about how the new OC worked with Ben Johnson, or that he has been in the organization before. I wonder if some of these talking heads even know.

Haley also said “Jared Goff is going to have to go into this season with Ben Johnson”…Like Ben made Goff. It’s ridiculous.

I can’t wait for the Bears to finally figure out Caleb Williams isn’t Jared Goff. You think these media personalities will admit they had no clue what they were talking about?

The whole problem lies with the Ben Johnson media hype. It goes hand in hand with the Caleb Williams media hype. When they fail, the media will just move on to the next chosen ones, and forget they made the claims they did about the Lions taking a step back because of Benedict Johnson.

It’s important because coaching at the nfl level absolutely matters. You take this lions team for example. Replace Campbell with a guy like Patricia again and this is a .500 team once he loses the locker room. The Eagles are also a great example why having the right staff in place matters. Even the greatest players can be negatively impacted by poor schemes and play calling. Moving players out of their natural roles to fit schemes. It all matters at the pro level.

Haha never. But a big part of their job is to create storylines not be accurate. He’s trying to turn the Bears vs Lions into must see TV and is getting fans fired up in the process. Mission accomplished.

If the Lions dominate, the same talking head will have a new spin to put on it. If the Bears somehow beat the Lions… Then they say I told you. It’s like marriage… Your wife has never been wrong ever. :joy: same playbook as talking heads.

funny you think Matt Patricia would get us to reach .500, it would be the players that made us get .500.
