That was a fun article. Thanks for posting. Now it’s up to PT. I get the spirit and motivation. But I want a Crosby, not a Ruettiger.

If this translate from training camp to preseason games to regular season, well, it would go a long ways for this team.

But, that is a big big IF.

Ahmed takes dumps the size of Rudy!

Hassanien coming onto the field

I will say it this way. I can see Hassanien being a solid rotational piece for the DL. He is a guy who could come in against more gassed OT’s, and through his absolute endless energy, could be a guy who creates chaos. I am very interested to see how he pairs with Hutch, in the sense that teams will run to his side of the field, but with how he creates chaos, he can stop a lot of plays on his own or at least jam things up for the LB’s to clean up. This is more what I expect his role to become.

That being said… The NFL has a number of stories of guys who were UDFA’s or low level picks, who despite having no business doing so, come out of nowhere and become stars. The guys that have these stories, have that same drive and passion that Hassanien does. Football at the end of the day is a game where you have to want it more than the other guy. Hass has that mental edge. If his body can keep up with his hair on fire mindset, I think his story is going to be a fun one to watch. I think he could become a John Randle.

Crosby would be great but I’d be just as happy if he became another cliff Avril. A highly productive edge that doesn’t break the bank.

Crosby’s a tall ask. He had the elite traits, he only went late because of small school +… well, + he had a drinking problem and they all knew it. Kudos to him for getting clean, but he’s definitely an outlier. Guys with Crosby’s traits usually don’t go that low.

Hassanein hitting would be more like a Trey Hendrickson/Jared Allen situation. Guys who overcame a low percentage outlier trait or two to thrive. An outcome any of us would take, of course, and one that’s actually less rare than ‘finding a Crosby’.

Funny enough, Jared Allen also had a big drinking problem in college, and in the pros. It took him time to get himself cleaned up as well. That was a chunk of the reason the Chiefs were hesitant to pay Allen a big contract and why he ended up leaving and going to the Vikings.

I really hope he stays healthy because with this type of attitude and work ethic he could become a major piece for our dline going forward.
