The Jets are top ten in both offensive and defensive success rate. They stop shooting themselves in the foot and they can be that division’s second best team which I guess is kind of like being the runner up of the NIT.
If Bengals are 2-5… with Burrow still out another 5+games….
they would be even bigger idiots than usual to NOT trade Trey for the highest offer.
At this point… they have lost all leverage.
He likely won’t resign with them under any circumstance after what they pulled with him…. so any offers better than an early 4th rounder in 2027 will be better compensation than they get for him.
Plus… why pay another $10 million in salary to Trey when this season is already lost?
.
.
Bengals probably won’t sniff a 1st rounder like they had wanted when they truly wanted to keep him….
but they could benefit if a few teams are willing to bid against each other…possibly raising a 3rd rounder for a rental into a 2nd rounder… considering that either of those picks is likely offered by a playoff team that will be late rounders.
