Williams suspended for gambling!

Kamara pummeled a guy on video in a casino.

Jamo placed legal bets on college games…. less than 10 miles from the MGM Detroit.

Kamara still hasn’t been suspended.

Interesting personal conduct priorities……

I was just going to mention that while I am disappointed with Jamo’s
Judgment the hypocrisy displayed by the NFL re: sports gambling is truly breathtaking.

Opens the draft board backup. Otherwise 6 or 18 has to be a WR.

I was thinking the same but with JSN. Heck if we don’t trade for a vet I think two WRs is a very real possibility now.

Yea, I can’t see him being able to take Carter even if he wanted to. Sheila knows this gambling scandal is very embarrassing for the organization, you can’t be taking Carter now, way too much risk involved.

The jokes about gambling and racing, gambling on racing will never stop.

All four guys played on the punt coverage unit so maybe we should be thanking god the best player on this roster wasn’t invovled, Jack Fox, AKA the 2023 NFL MVP, AKA the 2023 Superbowl MVP…

So I get that we have to hold Dan accountable for this and that he needs to take on some of the blame. HOWEVER, I would ask what the hell is Dan supposed to do? I’m working on the assumption that Dan has told everyone that betting on NFL games is illegal as well as betting on college games in the facility.

To that end, is Dan supposed to put up a big poster that says “don’t bet on games” and every time he sees a player or staff tells them “you better not be betting on games!!

You can’t ask Dan to protect players against their stupid selves.

Maybe some will realize now just how much Chark signing would have helped. He wasn’t a clean player but he sure had some value here with Goff, we may be out of it before we start winning again this year. Everyone will key on St. Brown. Depending on Jamo was a bad idea the kid just isn’t ready

I really hate/don’t hate quoting the reviled CheesyPuff KAaron Rodgers, but it’s appropriate and timely:

R-E-L-A-X

Jameson Williams didn’t bet on NFL games, so I don’t see the issue. The hypocrisy of the NFL has no end. They embrace gambling in all its form, but it’s so terrible you can’t do it on non NFL games from an NFL facility. Yeah, ok

The other two? They got what they deserved.

Seriously though, dumb rule. Just the same old power tripping privilege of billionaires flexing to remind us all who runs shit. Same shit we hate them for.

Obviously no bets on NFL games makes sense to eliminate conflicts of interest. But no betting from the facility in an age when the betting table is an app on your phone… holy shit holier than thou ridiculously out of touch. What is this 1935? I know they wish it was.

GMFB.

Yes do they can also serve as teachable moments or to reflect if the organization should or can support the players more

There are tons of things the owners do to flex their privilege. Having a rule about players and staff not gambling on sports to try to prevent that from leaking into their sport… which could actually ruin it… is not one of those.

Yeah, I can understand people looking at this as an organization-wide problem. But realistically, what’s more likely: that the Lions are the only team in the NFL that’s had multiple guys in the building gambling online while hanging out at the facility? Or that this was just the first opportunity that the NFL came across to set an example and send a message to the league?

Sure, leaders need to take responsibility, and they’ve obviously addressed the situation with the offenders immediately, to their credit. I think that’s about all you can ask for. I mean, I don’t think this is a situation where if Brad/Dan would’ve “done their job better” this would’ve been avoided. Just one of those things, Lions get the short end of the stick as usual.

I do wonder if the NFL lessens the Jamo suspension if he appeals (though based on his press release, that seems unlikely)

They should. Suspending him for 6 games is ridiculous. He’d be better off shoving an opposing teams trainer while attending to an injured player.
