Playing in my league’s championship tonight… The two guys we’re playing both started hitting from the old man tees this year, their established handicap was based off of the white tees last year, so it’s kind of bullshit IMO. They get as much as a 100 yard advantage on some holes and they can both hit the driver well. But, you play the team in front of you… Wish me luck!

Do you guys use GHIN for your handicaps? Because it will adjust your handicaps based on the tees you all play, regardless of your index.
There’s no way they should get the same strokes from the up tees.

I played the first half from the white tees and starting scoring well on the back nine of our league, but was struggling on the front nine where the yardage was much longer.
Switched to the old man tees at the mid-season break and started playing much worse on the back nine, but much better on the front. The former I attribute to getting in the rhythm of using the right club at the right time, but once I switched, everything changed and I was hitting from entirely different distances with clubs I wasn’t as good as hitting.
Ironic that it helped & hurt at the same time.

I’m not sure of the exact metrics, but I know it doesn’t account for what tee box we use. From what I know, it takes the average of your best 10 rounds out of the last 20. So, their handicap is mostly adjusted by now. When we played them in the first half, we had to give them 16 strokes, we just played them last week and only had to give them 10. By week 3 of next season, their handicap should be fully adjusted

You can’t beat old guys. Even if you catch them not counting all their strokes, they’ll just say they forgot a swing here and there and it will be totally believable.

Whooped their asses by 15 strokes… Had to give them 9, so it was a pretty good beat down even though I didn’t play my best

It would be fun to put together a 4 man scramble team from the Den at a central course! I’m a solid stick and it would be a blast to meet everyone that way!

Its crazy to think that you guys would have lost in the first half, where you had to give them 16 strokes. The handicap system is a good idea, but definitely misguided and needs to be updated.
Scrambles are my favorite way to play golf!

Thanks! We barely lost to them in the 1st half, we beat them by the same 15 strokes, so at least we’re consistent!
