Check out what Watt had to say about playing in the NFL… I think this might apply to several Lions players. And it definitely applies to us the Lions fans.
Heard Rod Wood offered him the GM job.
That sounds like a Rod move, haha.
Hell, Rod should hire him as #54’s assistant.
Head Assistant to the Special Advisor.
That was an awesome press conference. It’s refreshing to hear that from someone like him and have it come off as sincere and legit.
He can be spielman’s assistant the second he retires!
Wow, I wish every Lions coach and player had that kind of passion. Some do, I’m sure. But some don’t, for some it’s just a paycheck. And I don’t care who you are or how good you are, those kinds of guys need to be gone. I don’t like guys that come in and just show up until their contract year and then all of a sudden they play hard.
You know what? I think a guy like Watt or Spielman can watch the tape and tell who took the play off; who half-assed it and who didn’t. Pretty sure the coaches know too, and probably the players too although they might not say so cuz that means ratting out a teammate. But the tape speaks for itself, what you did on the field is the undeniable truth. It shouldn’t matter who likes you, if you ain’t giving your best then IMHO you need to be gone. And THAT should be the culture around the Lions.
Love it! J.J. has 1 year left on his contract and I would love to have him. He would also be a great coach some day. If the Lions had this kind of passion from the Owner all the way down to the Janitor, we’d have something special.
Good. Also, win next week to help our draft position.
Now this is funny. Legit LOL funny.
Can someone send this to the Fords?
I’m guessing Watt isn’t a fan of tanking for higher draft picks.
Absolutely right, Watt doesn’t seem to be in favor of tanking late in the season, he seems to be 100% opposed to it. That’ll anger a good chunk of fans, especially a good chunk of Lions fans who have convinced themselves that tanking & giving up late in the year is the right thing to do. This is just another example of the huge disconnect of people who actually have to play and fans & sportswriters who have never played.
That’s why there pros and fans are fans, the fans that talk about tanking show exactly why they could never be a pro.

I expect this is especially true when your first round draft pick is headed to Miami.
The Dolphins, however, are loving it.
To think we drafted Nick Fairley in that draft.
I feel the Lions defense is missing a player with that kinda passion and leadership.
