Would you be interested in Joey Bosa?

They are really stuck in the mud with Mack and Bosa given injury on Bosa and age on Mack basically precluding giving them some kind of salary to signing bonus seap and extend a few years at high cuttable non guaranteed salary…

Why would he due that when he’s coming off a career high in sacks?

The Chargers have probably 4 guys that probably aren’t a part of the long range future. All are owed more than $20M in cash in 2024.

Mack - 33 - $23.25M
Allen - 32 - $23.1M
Bosa - 29 - $22M
Williams - 30 - $20M

They could all be traded for whatever they get or cut pre-June 1 (same cap savings) and the Chargers who are currently $46M OVER the cap would save $81M, putting them at $35M Under the cap.

Allen and Mack were both productive last year. I would think that if they are keeping Mack and Allen, they might try to keep Bosa (pay cut??) and hope for a healthy season or even cut him post June 1 (if poor trade offers) and keep the deferral of $7.6M for the 2025 season.

Only way I do it is for a late round pick and if Bosa agrees to a significant pay cut with some incentives.

I’d be more willing to trade for the 33yr old Mack.

The Chargers might even be willing to pay some of his salary.

With that contract and injury history they gotta be pretty desperate to dump it

You don’t let that guy walk if he’s healthy.

I agree but football is a different animal than most sports, where you can have two shortened seasons and come back just fine. It could just be that Bosa’s body is breaking down on him.

In those 9 games he managed to play last season he did have 6.5 sacks still.

The contract is almost untradeable though

It’s been a couple things with him, 2022 Groin injury and 2023 Ankle injury
He has had a few concussions and foot injuries early in his career.

Maybe just bad luck? Hard to tell, but I am sure some due diligence would be done by the Lions on this one

I’d rather have this guy:

To injury prone. Production doesn’t match salary

My bet is nobody trades for either Mack or Bosa. Even if there’s competition on the open market I don’t think anyone is paying 33 year old Mack $22 million, and no one is paying injury prone Bosa $22 million either, so everyone will just save their picks and wait for the auction.

Agreed. Chargers will just have to cut bait and move on.

All four of Keenan Allen, Mack, Bosa, and Mike Williams are all likely cut before their roster bonuses kick in as their salaries are just not tradeable.

Only way they get compensation is if they eat the roster bonus and part of their salaries. I doubt that happens as they are already 40mil+ over the cap.

I would be floored if a new regime decided to keep a soon to be 32 year old WR who hasn’t played a full season since 2021, when they can save 23.1mil against the cap by releasing him. They are also significantly over the current cap so they need the space.

Not saying Allen won’t re-work his deal to come back, but no way he stays without adjusting the numbers, IMO.

Only on a re-worked, incentive based contract. He’s good, even elite when healthy. But he can’t stay healthy.

Actually think it’s possible once he gets cut…

Hey Joey you wanna win a super bowl?

You already have tons of cash. Come join Hutch and Alim and take this dline to next level. We will give you a contract loaded with incentives and if you perform you get paid well and we win a bunch of playoff games unlike ur run with the Chargers.

Prove u can win a super bowl and stick it to your brother. :joy:

Keenan will be a cap causality imo
