Methinks Tony is exaggerating. The AI is doing exactly what Tony wants.
Any publicity is good publicity it’s possible that’s the angle here. I may have an opening for a skeptical set of eyes on case intake….
First of all, he lets his agent interact with other agents. That permission was already given.
The agent has access to its own bank account, that had to be set up and permission given. Likewise for any funds it got from other agents.
Agents need constantly refreshed context windows (short term memory). They have to periodically consult external markdown files (long-term memory). Tony can edit the markdown and feed it whatever he wants, without it “appearing” to be a part of the current context.
All the AI does is predict the next token. That prediction model is based on its prior learning, and the current context window. It doesn’t actually have any “agency.” It’s just predicting what the user wants to see, based on context. He told the agent he liked the idea of it being in a robot dog. The agent is acting on that context.Tony’s agent is doing exactly what he wants.
There’s a lot of money in the AI bubble. They want to keep pumping it as long as possible. They do that using propaganda – in particular, stoking hopes/fears of AGI or “artificial consciousness”. But all the LLM really is is a giant matrix of words with mathematical relationships to each other – the math is vector math, so it’s really good at how words relate to each other, based on probability and weighting algorithms.
The correct title for this thread should be, “Tony wants you to believe that AI wants anything.”
