I think these 2 cats will HEAVILY impact the draft.
I want to know why you guys think of
Bro-Mart → If they think this guy is a monster, we won’t likely be drafting a depth guy.
Houston → Do they view him as a 1 trick pony? Are they trying to develop him into a more versatile player? Do they view him as a super-power? A rotational guy? Something in-between???
Going into next season expecting either to be a difference maker is very poor planning. This front office needs to add a difference maker somewhere on this DLine, and not a rookie.
If either of those guys take a giant leap next season that’s great, it will make this DLine all the more impressive. For a team with realistic Super Bowl aspirations, you don’t put all your eggs in those baskets. Just my opinion of course.
Hate to say it but Houston is like a rookie entering year 3. What’s he played 9 games in his career. Maybe 200 total snaps. He’s barely played. The injury really sucked
We need an every down defensive end opposite Hutch. Even if Houston gets healthy and develops he’s still most likely just a situational pass rusher… which is still very valuable
Bromart… no clue because he played like 10 snaps this year. He’s a massive fella though.
Personally, I can see Houston being a one trick pony.
My intuition tells me that Bro-Mart is gonna have an Iffy-like career arc.
I think that cat evolves into something amazing, hopefully sooner than later.
I’m not sure about Martin. But I know what I saw in Houston 2 seasons ago. With the lack of a pass rush opposite Hutch I’m all about having a one trick pony that can get some sacks.
I’m with ya - I think his floor is pretty great.
I think the same of Bro-Mart…I think he’s gonna be a part of the future, either as a rotational guy, or as a monster!
Like other Holmes picks (Iffy, Barnes), it is entirely possible that one or both of these guys will turn out to be high-level pro players and reliable contributors to the team.
Neither player is that right now. Which means they should have no impact on draft decisions this April.
I dreamed Bro Mart lost 50 pounds and became a league destroying Edge.
There is something, someone on staff doesn’t like about Houston. I’m afraid he’ll get a better offer from Green Bay or Chicago.
I was hoping Paschal could be a bit of an oversized DE. lol
this is an interesting take. I could see it, but am not predicting it.
We are eventually going to start losing amazing players. Hoping they get traded, instead of releasing them. More beans, not only to prevent massive talent flux, but to keep the cap right too…
I believe Houston is a UFA because they released him to put him on the practice squad last year, then signed him to a two year contract. Which just ended.
Houston is an ERFA. He will be retained for basically peanuts without another team even being able to sniff around. He will be an RFA after next season so he’s essentially under team control for two more years unless another team swoops in during his RFA status, but then we’re likely getting compensated (assuming we tender him).
I would really like Houston’s chances if AG got fired and we hired someone like Jim Schwartz that really appreciates getting pressure on the QB. I’m still in shock that you can watch the 2022 version of Houston and then tell yourself that you don’t want more of that. I’m like WTF man…
They’re both part of the solution. Don’t rely on them to be THE solution, but factor in what you think they will contribute. Honestly, that’s true with every position and every potential move we make.
