Zeitler to Titans

Why would the day he signed influence the comp pick value? I thought it was all the same until a couple days after the draft.

I think this might be the philosophy, have high level (and high paid) players at LT, C and RT, and then plug in cheaper or less experienced guards who will be lifted by what’s either side of them and the quality of Fraley’s coaching.

Which is all-in-all a very solid philosophy. You can find iOL help cheap, like we did Zeitler last year or Glasgow the year before, like Philly did with Becton this year, like the Niners did drafting Puni, etc… Those guys were some of the best in the league at their spots the year they were brought in (Glasgow obviously faded since then).

Yea, privy to the article posted…

whack, but he’s probably already been replaced.

too bad the bears didn’t overpay for him

Bingo! The whole no guards in the first round philosophy.

Lions have the best offensive line coach in the NFL. Lions will probably steal an interior olineman in the 2nd or 3rd who can also play Center. If Glasgow sucks or Frank misses time the rookie goes in and I’m sure Hank will have him up to speed. Mahogany is going to start and he’s going to be a beast. Glasgows play was not great to finish the year and as great as Ragnow is he is on borrowed time and will miss some games. I am glad that Holmes didn’t spend that much for Zeitler.

I once said he’d only sign with a super bowl contender… Haha wow was I wrong.

Turns out his wife is getting all that money… Dude hasn’t worn the pants since 2009…

Anyways thx for playing hard last year… Good luck winning 6 games next year

Dang it. Emoji colors worked for both teams @stephenboyd57

By the way, I think the spot’s Glasgow’s. He thought it was his last year until Zietler whored himself out to us LOL.

Oh well. Back to GG at RG and G/C depth remains as much a need as it would have been even with Zietler.

To me that’s what exactly is going down they’re going to spend a first two round pick on a guy who eventually take over for rags

the new year started already.
9M was barely a 5th rounder yesterday.
its probably a sixth rounder in this new year, but that would be for the 2026 draft.
but i would get @DeadStroke to verify.

I get it, because of the rise in salary cap.

It’s all good… Mahogany is a legit talent. He deserves a shot and is very cheap

We got mahogany in the 6th, so yeah we can find a long term replacement for cheaper.

When healthy, OL play 100% of the snaps, so if healthy, Zeitler should be a 5th, but if he gets hurt, he’ll probably be a sixth.

I credit Hank Fraley

The Lions already have a lot of money invested into the OL. I think tossing another 9-10 million on a guard probably just didn’t feel like value to BH. I mean look at corner - they liked Davis but at that price you have to find the next best option. I think that’s where we are with guard. They will definitely sign someone but for less than 9 mil a year.

They kept Fraley and gave him a raise. They’re going to make him earn it by replacing Zeitler with someone cheaper and asking for there to be no drop off from the unit.
