I was listening to the game on SXM, Miller and Brown, and they were saying that Shep wasn’t disguising the blitzes at all.
I think they put in the Hutch rule because our offensive line was so bad. Against them he looks all world.
It was like the Packers had Shep’s playbook down already. I thought being a new coordinator we might have an element of surprise for them. Boy was I wrong
Sacks aren’t required but disrupting the QB is.
Jordan love first half was unbothered and owned us.
Twice in 2nd half we got pressure and he gifted a ball to Anzalone and threw another to branch.
I don’t care about the sack totals. Just the disruption or pressures.
I think it will get better as guys play together in lice reps but I still think it will fall short of what several of us have wanted.
I don’t want to say max protect but it did seem like they had seven blockers committed quite a few times and 6 on most plays. I think they were comfortable with less out on routes and trusting that they’d win the matchups that they liked. Kraft and Doubs mostly.
Yep the first time Hutch hit Love…. he threw the ball directly to Anzalone. which he of course dropped….smh
I think those back to back missed turnover plays also really deflated us. The pick six in particular would have supercharged the team and likely made GB tight. That was rough but it was the correct call ![]()
.
My point is they didn’t really need to prepare much…
because the Lions ran right into their chests.
1st drive… 6 man “blitz”…
with every single one of them trying to rush through the chest of the man in front of them.
on 3rd and 10……

When you send 6 and get no pressure…. you could have 5 hall of famers in coverage and you are still screwed
One also wonders if we went back and just focused on the D how much of this stuff we might find.

They got a TD here so likely at least a 4 point missed body slam.
The Bills have 2 sacks!
I am in the camp about wanting more help with rushing the passer (either up the middle or on the edge) but it certainly didn’t help our cause today dropping our 2 best DL in coverage while blitzing LBs. Zero idea what the thinking was there and how someone thought it would end up in our favor.
I didn’t even realize how bad Anzalone’s hand “usage” was with that rush….
I’m pretty sure nobody coaches players to have their hands below and outside their knees whilst rushing the QB. ![]()
.
Hopefully he slipped or something …. Looks like he wants to suck the guys balls! Lol

Post game look of Anzalone refueling his body.
I think in the first half they were too worried about Love escaping the pocket and they were doing a crush the can pass rush. This might be necessary for Lamar or Hurts. Love might be mobile but I don’t think he is looking to run. In fact I think he is terrible under pressure and will make bad decisions. If he can stand in the pocket with no pressure he will shred you as he demonstrated in the 1st half.
It’s going to take a whole lot of pressure when you only score 6 points.
Yeah, I saw that one.
goal is to scheme him into less sacks so he ends up costing less

difference is, Love is super sketchy when rattled. the couple times we got pressure he threw 2 picks 1 we dropped the other didn’t count because of some somewhat questionable penalties.
