2024 draft class

Hock trade was good too if we didn’t blow the pick on Hooker & Bromart

ZaDarius trade was really good too

Tim Patrick trade was solid

Terrian Arnold trade was good

Rodrigo & James Houston good

CD3 great trade

Derrick Barnes good trade

But then there’s Trinity ■■■■■■■ Benson trade @Mr.Peabody

I agree with your point about the mid round guys. Brad drafts guys he think fits our culture and wants to develope them into better players.

I’d rather draft the better players, in the middle rounds and if they don’t fit our culture somehow we move on.

We have our hard working leaders on the team, I can’t see a mid rd guy somehow destroying our culture.

Jamo was a trade up.
My personal preference is to let it come to you or trade back like we did in 23. It’s no coincidence, IMO, that 23 is the best draft they’ve had.

Even the Jamo trade up wasn’t that great. Especially when you consider the guys that would have been available with our 2 picks. Could have had George Pickens and another good player like Kenneth Walker. Jalen Pitre, Breece Hall, Kyler Gordon, etc. Also, since he was injured, then suspended, and young and immature.. we basically only got 1 season of production before we paid him like an elite wideout.. which he isn’t. So the value for the cost was not great.

I think the threads re-litigating prior draft classes are my least favorite type of Den threads.

Well aside from those silly threads claiming that Die Hard isn’t a Christmas movie.

Im fine with most his draft day trades.

But what moves OUT SIDE of the draft did he make?

Cool traded AWAY Swift and Hock. Good moves.
But what about adding?

DPJ? Trash.
Zadaius? He only did it out of necessity.
Then what? A few day 3 trades.

What does EVERY superbowl team do? They make trades to get DUDES. Brad hasnt done that ever. And with the depleted capital he has now because he traded away all the capital for his pet projects in Manu Teslaa etc they have no ability to get anything.

No draft capital. No salary cap space.
Unless he trades away someone currently on the roster for capital then turns around and trades that? But thats a lateral move.

Is this a joke?

I was certainly not privy to the Lions draft board….

.

but…. I am 99.9% sure that Pickens was taken off the board.

I don’t think the Lions would have drafted him with a 6th or 7th round pick.

Absolutely agree. I still like the fact that Brad and Dan have a “type” they want to go get, and I don’t think that should (or will) change. But I do think we need to be more selective with trading away assets for trade ups. Give Brad more bites at the apple and I think we can uncover more hidden gems like St Brown, Rodrigo and Mohogs. Hard to do that when you package these picks for someone who is a miss. It really hurts our depth, and we’re currently seeing/living that right now. I think if we simply learn that lesson and adjust there, that alone puts us in a much better place moving forward.

My point still stands with multiple other good options at wr. But also.. if we didn’t take jamo off our board for being crazy immature then I’m not sure we would have taken pickens off either.

Eagles did NOTHING at the deadline last season…
won the the Super Bowl.

.

Chiefs did NOT add anyone in 2023…

.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2023-nfl-trade-deadline-trio-of-nfc-contenders-improved-chiefs-fail-to-add-wide-receiver/

.

The Chiefs did add Kadarius Toney in 2022… who had the 6th most receiving yards (171) amongst WRs for the Chiefs in 2022…. when Mahomes threw for 5250 yards. Wow… big move.

The 2020 Bucs didn’t make any deadline deals.

.

Outside of the Von Miller trade to the Rams… what Super team in recent years truly benefited from a deadline trade?

2019 Chiefs? nope.
2018 Patriots? nope.

I remember the Eagles landed Ajayi in 2017. The 2nd best addition in the past 8 years… and they had a RB by committee.

I remember when the Eagles traded for Phillips and the Colts traded for Sauce and both have had losing records since the trade deadline.

Having a cheat code in brady and mahomes aside.

Correct me if im wrong.
Eagles made a major trade for bown and signed Saquan leading up to their win correct?

Rams traded for Stafford.

49ers made the SB making a trade for Gregory and Young.

Again what move has brad made to get this team over the hump in the last 2 years since the 2023 deadline?

I’ll wait

My comment directly at trade deadline deals.

AJ Brown was acquired during the draft… for a 1st rounder.
Saquon was a free agent that anyone could have signed.

Stafford was a HUGE investment… in February.

The 49ers got 2.5 sacks each from Young and Gregory… opposite of Nick Bosa and with good DT play. Not even AQM level. Wow.

sacks dont mean squat. Pressure rate doesnt mean squat when your pocket time is 4s.

I dont care if its deadline or not.

All brad has done so far in his entire tenure.

Draft develop and sign.

And sign a few decent FAs.

Hes made 0 trades for good players

Mostly because he trades away all the decent draft assets for guys that barely know how to play football

Carlton Davis was pretty solid.

Goff doesn’t count?

.

I’m gonna edit to add a bit about Philly.

Last year… Philly mauled opponents in the run game.
They lost Mekhi Becton in free agency.
Lane Johnson is older than he has ever been.

Now… they are averaging 3.7 ypc.

The offense is terrible.

How did Howie not plan for this problem???

He’s supposed to be the GOAT of GMs.
