Listen, I was told Draft Crush meant anyone I would be happy if the Lions drafted. There’s a lot of guys I want!
Someone needs to sell me on Wiggins man, I just don’t see it. To me he looks handsy with poor body control, doesn’t track the ball well, doesn’t play the ball well and doesn’t diagnose as well as other CB’s in the draft. He face guards and I just don’t like that style of play I guess.
My favorite man coverage guy is Quinyon Mitchell. He is sticky, diagnosis plays well and tracks the ball in the air.
I also really like Cooper Dean but he’s more of a zone guy. Watching him toss aside pulling guards is crazy impressive and I read he’s also a sub 4.4 guy however I could not find actual data to back that up.
Renardo Green is impressive as well. His situational awareness, play recognition and diagnosis pre-snap is pretty special.
Pretty much word for word the way I feel about the class too. I like Arnold as well as Kool-Aid (at the right spots), but Q Mitchell has been my CB1 for awhile and Green is one of my biggest crushes. I think Dejean can play a little man, but that’s certainly not based on the tape. And zone is clearly his forte. I’ve never been huge on Wiggins, but mostly because I figured his tackling ineptitude would be a big no-no for our FO.

Honestly I think our current setup makes Wiggins more palatable. Don’t ask him to do heavy lifting as a rookie. And then unleash him in full as a 185 pound second year guy.
It’s possible, he’s always had enough want-to to be a decent tackler, but I just think on top of being too small (which being 185 would fix obviously) that he’s just uncannily bad at it. Head down, kill shots (where he just bounces off), no wrapping up, overrunning plays… maybe that’s more of that awful Clemson coaching, but if I was a FO that cared about CB tackling, he would have a bold-sized check mark in the cons column.

I think I value make up speed at CB a bit more than you do. And it’s something we really lack back there.

Put Jaylin Simpson up there for me. He’s undersized, but can play anywhere. Really needs to up his weight, but he plays bigger than his size IMO.

And he has that in spades. First thing that made me sit forward in my seat. And honestly I’m not as hung up on poor tackling corners as I believe our FO will be. I don’t want lazy guys, but I understand Deion-style business decisions.
I just think for this particular FO he won’t be that high.
As you opined a few posts ago I really just think it is mass with him. Get some body armor on him and he’ll improve as a tackler…
From what I’ve heard Wiggins weighs a buck fifty sopping wet, might be a concern IDK.
