Agree on Braswell. I think the other guys are store brand versions of that type.
Here’s the thing with Trice: he’s like Fiske in that there is no off switch with him. He just goes. Newton is that way too IMO and doesn’t get enough credit for it bc of his pot belly.
I actually think you can lump Braswell, Kneeland, Jackson and McGregor into that category as well. All of them have really hot motors. I think Kneeland’s might be the best of the bunch.
Now I’m sure they do it while playing as many plays as Trice, but I suspect they’re close.
Trice is Hutch or Crosby motor wise. He’s significantly more stiff which limits the ceiling for Bralen but in terms of pure motor I think it’s 100/100.
Oh I know, it’s one of my favorite things about him. Actually it probably is my favorite thing about him. I just think Kneeland’s right there with them, and the others are very close.
Big fan of these 3. I like Kneeland a lot. He has shown he can rush the passer from all over. But like all 3.
I am not saying he cant improve here, as he has the length, but he isnt the stickiest CB to me and his tackling comes and goes. Id prefer Terrion. I think he is better of the Bama CBs.
I would prefer Terrion as well but I think the chances that Terrion makes it to 29 are probably like .8% or whatever. Maybe the combine changes that.
There are just three very important things to remember about McKinistry.
1,) Saban loves his corners and from what I can tell Kool-Aid was the one guy in the Saban regime that started his first career game.
2:) he had something like 43 passes thrown at him. Some of Arnold’s ball production was made possible by teams electing to go away from Kool-Aid
3:) and I can’t stress the importance of this one enough, he goes by “Kool-Aid”. We are Lions fans. What we win one season and now we’re too good for Kool-Aid.
A Lions jersey with Kool-Aid on the back. Come on? That’s f’cking awesome. If he’s good I’ll just start buying that as a gift for everyone I know.
I may have McKinstry lower than the other “big 5” (that’s how I’m starting to think of them now), but I’d be thrilled if we got him. A lot of that has to do with him playing the position I think is our weakest, but still.
Which conversely is why I like Green. He’s quite similar to Cam. Bigger, more physical? Faster? . But you can play them in tandem and have no stylistic issues.
Not a ton of ball production. I don’t think he’s all that special of an athlete. He’s hard nosed, willing on run support. IDK I don’t think that is worth our pick at 29 in a deep CB class.
At 58? Sure. Whatever. I’d still take Green over him thoiugh.
That’s who AG was in NO, so it wouldn’t surprise me.
Personally I’m all for mixing-and-matching styles, let AG cook Ben-style on defense, mad scientist shit. I’m not sure how it would work exactly, but hey it’s not my job to figure that out.
Yeah, Green is in the Cam bucket, though I think he’s a much better prospect and certainly more ready to contribute right away. Also, right now a Cam comp is a little radioactive on here, so let’s go with a slightly less athletic Trent McDuffie (though Trent ran a 4.44, which I think is about what Green will run too).
I really think we want to give you hell at the line of scrimmage period.
I think when we first signed Cam there was a floor of we know he can be a good nickel. And then the rest of FA and the draft pushed him to outside only. And he can be a solid outside CB. Just not against every opponent playing any which way.
I agree. With the injuries this year, I think it will limit the $ and number of suitors Jonah has. I believe a one year contract is his best play, I’m sure he recognizes that as well. This also assumes the Lions aren’t interested in giving him a long term contract. GG is almost guaranteed to return and I think your estimate of 6M/yr is right on.
