2024 Draft

I would be surprised if he gets anywhere near the sort of offer he was rumored to want as of last offseason.

Wish he didn’t have the turd stigma (I assume that played in to your ranking him #43), he and Brian Thomas are two of my favorite fits for the Lions at WR that may be available at our pick. Legette, Polk and Worthy (potential for injury scares me) are also nice fits.

Assuming we add 1 receiver, who are other people’s 5 favorite matches for the Lions that could reasonably be available at pick 29 or later?

Yeah, that’s the main reason Coleman’s lower. I just can’t imagine Brad being all that high on him. I also question his ability to separate, especially since I know he’s plenty athletic enough (judging by the punt returns).

I loooooove Brian Thomas though. He just keeps growing and growing on me through the process. I think he’s a perfect fit. I also really like Franklin and Legette. I’d be fine with Polk in the 2nd, but after that my favorites are guys who don’t quite fit so well. Corley, R. Wilson, Cowing, Malik Washington, Isaiah Williams, etc…

I do like Javon Baker late though. He’s not a pure X but can definitely do some stuff down the field. If I wait at WR he’s a guy I end up with a lot. And I know @Davicus really likes Thrash too.

Yeah, I always forget that. Losing Moseley really hurt. Then again we couldn’t have expected too much from him given the injury, right? At least not over the first half of the season. He sure would have looked good on the roster in the playoffs though.

The smaller and the younger the guy the more I’m like whatever with ACLs. I thought his was more garden variety. If I’m wrong on that then that would matter.

I think that’s a good description of Beebe. I see Beebe executing blocks in space and he is very good at it. He routinely makes the pull from LG to pass block the LDE. He gets to the 2nd level and takes out LBs. I really don’t care what his 40 time is this guy will be an OG in the NFL for 10 years and I don’t see him ever playing center.

A good football player to watch is Sedrick Van Pran. A very good Center who can also play G. He has no problem getting to the 2nd or even the 3rd level. I think one thing that separates him from some of the other IOL is that he actually engages his target and takes them out. He is very balanced and in control when on the move. This guy has 2 years of excellent tape against the cream of the crop not to mention practicing against the best. It’s not just about getting to the 2nd level but making a block when you get there.

Yeah, I think he’s one of the higher floor center options out there, and it’s impossible not to love the nasty he brings to the position. I don’t think he’s a great athlete, but I think he’s probably good enough.

I do think length can give him fits, and I actually disagree about his balance. It doesn’t happen a ton but when his punch misses defenders tend to get an easy run at the QB. With an athletic QB that’s not a big deal, but with Goff that’s not great.

But you’re right his experience is great, and he has all the smarts and technique you’d expect from a long time starter. I don’t know how high his ceiling is, but we could certainly do worse.

When I said good balance and control I was referring to his blocking at the 2nd and 3rd level. This guy buries DBs when he pulls. If we planned to start him right away at OG I would be more concerned with his pass blocking.

someone on the NFL draft Subreddit compiled a bunch of data for a chart that shows how well the Incoming CB’s have performed NFL wise in Man Coverage and Zone Coverage, based off their passer rating against them.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NFL_Draft/comments/1amaw77/nfl_passer_rating_allowed_in_man_and_zone_by_2024/

link here to see it. Not shown on this chart is how terrible Rakestraw is in Man Coverage it seems, gives up 134.2 QBR in man coverage

Again doesnt include all of them, only some

It’s true. I’m a Thrash truther.

Hey I responded to that post on there. Asked them for Rakestraw, etc…

Michigan’s own Cynthia Frelund with a mock. Her’s is different, based on her data. Some interesting stuff (man her model loves Terrion Arnold)

are you Fierylady?

Yep.

The fierylady is my wife, and I originally changed it because I lost a bet with her. But it grew on me, no one expects anyone with ā€˜lady’ in their username to post on draft forums. They don’t know what to think lol (well, when they think at all).
