2024 Draft

Dang it, i had that as well and just missed it. LOL

AD Mitchell has such good, quick footwork off the line and can really snap his routes. He will separate well. And we saw his leaping ability. I really like him. I also like Franklin.

I like Franklin too. I do think Adonai is has good short-area juice for his size (though I doubt his long speedā€™s all that great), but my biggest concern with him is his rather shit blocking. If youā€™re gonna play WR for us, you have to block.

Have you watched any Austin Booker yet? I was turned onto him recently and man, heā€™s young but heā€™s got some really high level reps. And at 6ā€™6, 240 heā€™s still got plenty of room to grow. I canā€™t wait to watch him at the Senior Bowl.

Have not.

As far as AD Mitchell, I have seen him show the want-to to block. Check the Alabama game. Also, its a wonder how AD tests in 40, but he beat Terrion deep by a step.

Terrion in HS ran what I read was a 4.42 or something.

Id say minimum AD is a 4.5 guy. But he does a good job pacing his routes and setting guys up and getting separation. In a straight line I would guess Arnold is faster.

This is a clip of AD Mitch blocking for Ladd. Ill also try to upload one from Alabama game from this year that ill upload myself. Me gets physical with Terrion. He has the want-to.

Yeah I suppose I shouldnā€™t say he canā€™t block, itā€™s just very hit or miss when he chooses to. The Houston game he seemed to have no interest in it. Reminds me of George Pickens in that respect (not as prospects, just blocking desire).

Interviews and coaching? Is he an issue like Pickens?

Ask him tough questions.

Are you gritty?

Are you going to block?

Are you gonna let this organization down if we hire you?

Yep, stuff the FO will have to vet. But I can only form my opinions from the outside looking in.

Yeah, if it was me?

Id do as Bill Belichick does in his interview.

Show him his couple of his good blocks, followed by more lf his bad or lazy effort blocks, where he doesnt feel a need to sustain it.

Then ask ā€œwhich one am I getting if this organization hires you?ā€

Yeah, Iā€™m sure they all have their own strategies for dealing with it. Though honestly I thought Belichick was a pretty bad GM so maybe we shouldnā€™t do it exactly like him. Whatever caused him to draft Nā€™Keal Harry over Deebo and AJ Brown or Sony Michel over, well, anyone, the process wasnā€™t right.

Now a 3 rounder from Charlie Campbell, some new, wild names in there. Our picks are Troy Fautanu (1st), Max Melton (2nd), Jonah Elliss (3rd), and (@CuriousHusker) DeWayne Carter (3rd).

Not sure if Bill does that to potential hires, but he will do it to currently hired independent contractors:

I like McKinnley Jackson NT in rd 2 if he lasts. Pair him with Mac at 3 Tech of pascal at 3 tech an you now have middle plugged better than now. Are DL is not in major need I know some think it is but its not. I doubt Lion staff thinks it is as bad a fans either. We need a up grade on the edge.

You will see in UFA what staff think. sign if we can a Edge an draft one in rd 5 or try get a pick rd 4.
few to look at after rd 3 Jasheen Davisā€¦Nelson Ceaserā€¦

Dream draft first 3 rounds
1st - Utah DE - Jonah Ellis

2nd - Michigan DT - Kris Jenkins

3rd - Auburn CB - DJ James

3rd - Georgia G - Tate Ratlege

3rd (Comp) - Michigan TE - AJ Barner

That would be a great draft

But who really knows. I mean lions have made what 3 selections in the first 3 rounds with their own pick under Holmes

The only thing I think we lack from the interior is pressure, and while I like Jackson I donā€™t think thatā€™s his strongest area. Thatā€™s what I think weā€™re missing from the line in general, pressure, whether it comes from the edge or the interior.

My problem is that heā€™s way too damn talented to disappear for the long stretches the way he often does. Heā€™s got first round talent though.

Couple bored random thoughts after reading through again:

  1. Rams took Kobie Turner and Byron Young in the 2023 draft. Both had good PFF numbers. I liked both, and I remember pre-draft a former high-ranking NFL front office member on a podcast was asked about Turner during a mock draft and his response was:

ā€œUghā€¦no. He cant move. Its like he has bolts in his neckā€ā€¦ (Frankenstein).

I see @CuriousHusker liked Turner as well. I also liked Desjuan Johnson and Avila, who the Rams also drafted.

  1. @DBend144 ā€¦i am also a fan of Jonah Elliss and Barner.

  2. Who are your guysā€™ favorite Senior Bowl attendees? Who do you feel could surprise? How about not live up to expectations?

One that I want to see is QB Michael Pratt from Tulane, I think he can surprise some people. A favorite will be watching Beebe against the 2 DTs from Texas. I think this years Spears could be MarShawn Lloyd from USC. There are so many others like Leggette and Walker the big WRs.

We usually start a Senior Bowl thread but weā€™re also usually done playing by this point. Iā€™d hate to start distracting from our actual games by cluttering the board with our normal amount of draft threads lol. So Iā€™ll just put my thoughts here.

1st off Iā€™m always looking for how the smaller school guys perform against better competition. Really interested to see Mitchell, but also Isaiah Davis, Ethan Driskell, Christian Haynes, Jalyx Hunt, Marshawn Kneeland, Kimani Vidal, Jontrey Huntery, Tyrice Knight, Willie Drew, and Dylan Laube. One or more of them will probably pop.

Others I want to see outside the comfort zone of their systems/positions. Joe Milton, Marshawn Lloyd, Emani Bailey, Brenden Rice, Graham Barton, Kingsley Suamataia, Troy Fautanu, Kneeland, Sione Vaki, Mitchell (in press man), Cam Hart, Mustapha, and others.

Then thereā€™s just the guys I really like on tape and want to see against the best of the best. Cole Bishop, Jaylin Simpson, Austin Booker, Mitchell, Hart, Johnny Dixon, DJ James, Max Melton, Ulofoshio, Orhorhoro, Fiske, Sweat, Michael Hall, Cedric Johnson, Eboigbe, Adisa Isaac, Darius Robinson, Tenor Bortolini, Javion Cohen, Haynes, JPJ, Kingsley, Guyton, Javon Foster, Jaheim Bell, Corley, Leggette, Tez Walker, Roman Wilson, Jamari Thrash, Cowing, Rash, Emani Bailey, Pratt.

It will be interesting to see if Adisa Isaac can test these Tackles. There are some good OTs but we are not seeing the top edge rushers. Outside of Isaac do you see anyone that can give these top OTs a test?
