Only see a handful of these guys coming back. Lopez and Rock would be the 2 I would bring back for sure. Both are cheap for what they bring. Lopez is a good #4 DT and Rock a good depth CB. Probably sign Skip for another training camp. Lions love Raymond and could bring him back at a much cheaper cost than last deal. Lions should not invest heavy in AQM… I hope he gets paid from someone other than the Lions though would like to see him get a payday. He busted his ass at the training camp practices I went to running sprints after practice while 95% of team was off the field
I like rock, I like amik when he plays his proper position he definitely has that dog in him. Maddox too. Lopez did really good. Man a bunch of these guys I wouldn’t keep.
I think that’s the point of the contract tolling or not. It’s as though this year did not exist for him, contractually speaking. Next year will essentially be the 4th year of his contract.
The only difference is he still collected his salary to play zero snaps. So did Levi. So did Moseley for 2 years. Frustrating to pay these guys millions and get nothing from them
Agreed on AQM and Rock….Skip for sure is a psquad staple. Kirby i think is now expendable due to age. TE after Wright is just non exsistent with our offense, couldnt block a toddler. Gonna look different if we want to somehow land a guy named Crosby. May have to loose some fan favorite to accomplish that.
Split contract - if you end up on IR, you are only paid about 60% of your salary. If you don’t have a split contract, you are paid your full salary.
ERFA tenders do not have a split contract, not allowed.
Niese, Whitehead and Sayers all re-signed, they will probably signed contracts that contain a provision for a split salary. Bates will get the tender and won’t have a split contract. You’re right they will probably extend Bates this year or next year when he’s will be a RFA.
Ya-Sin as depth CB, Maddox as depth S, and Lopez are only players I care to keep unless AQM is super cheap. My god this D is so far away from competing now that we are uncertain about both safeties and Arnold isn’t good and can’t stay on the field. That 24 draft is so gross. The 25 one isn’t looking super promising either. It’s hard to be optimistic about getting back to the top of the NFCN. They need 5 DBs, a couple DEs, a DT, and a couple LBs. We are staring down the barrel of another bottom third D in 2026.
