This is his last chance for a pay day, and I don’t think the Lions want to hold that bag. I’ll miss him but I also can’t blame the Lions. His play will start to tail off here in his mid 30s
you have no proof of that, each 30 something player is different but they don’t all fail at 30.
he did look a touch slower this year. that doesn’t come back…unless…

None of those guys are difference makers.
Why do you got to do Kyle Allen like that?
I couldn’t have proof of what will happen in the future, that’s simply not possible. But when this upcoming season starts, Anzalone will be turning 32 years old. He already looked a step slower this past season. It’s possible he has a rebound season at 32 and beyond - but I also understand why the Lions are not interested in a multi-year expensive contract with him right now. I wouldn’t be either.
I agree.
then why make a broad statement that Thor’s play will tail off once he’s in his low 30’s?
I say it would tail off to inadequate OC’s, and injuries-IF he’s going to.
Can you give me an example of when someone could give you proof of something that hasn’t happened yet? I’m genuinely trying to follow your logic.

I was the one that stated: “I would like to hang onto Anzalone…..you came back with “oh he’ll be in his 30’s and will regress…..( I ) simply said “you don’t know that for sure. you kept arguing—-SO , I said : “not all 30 somethings slip at that age.” “you had no proof.” your response was: “ I couldn’t have proof of what WILL happen in the future.” remember, I responded with : “then why are you making blanket statements that Thor is going to regress in his 30’s?” “unless for maybe inadequate OC’s and injuries-IF- he’s going to.” NOW, I was offline for 2 hours, when I got back here, you asked for an example of when someone could give you proof of something that hasn’t happened yet? my answer? NO I can’t , which is why I asked you why you thought Anzalone’s play will start to tail off here in his mid 30’s. I disagreed with that take—that’s all.

He’s only 31 and I already think he’s begun the downward trend. Did you think he looked as good this past season as he did the couple years before it? I didn’t, personally. I wouldn’t want to be the team who signed him to a multi year high dollar deal. And I think the Lions agree with me.

I don’t care if they re-up him or not, no telling what might happen, but what this staff decides to do, I have nothing to do with, I’m just a nobody Lions Fan.

I agree Anzalone wasn’t as impactful this year.
But neither was Alim, Barnes, Reader, Reed, etc
I think some of this points to coaching. 5 Good players regressing
Yes injuries are a factor but still ![]()

This is a very good point, all them guys didn’t play well and are part of our core of starters.
Sheppard might be a ‘looks the part’ but actually sucks kinda coach.
You could argue that if we are starting Harper and Jackson we are dead. Kirby may be a bench player for the year if that. I would add at least one safety to the starters. Maybe a vet on a 1 year deal just to allow for some recovery.
Maddox, Harper, Thomas, Hallett. Were our starting safeties after Branch and Kerby were out.
Maddox was the only one with proven starting experience.
Find another guy like that for vet minimum should be plenty good
Signing a minimum level player in the secondary and asking him to start in Shep’s defense - which is m2m with little pressure - on a SB contender is crazy work
It worked out last year. thomas, Harper, Maddox. All virtually vet min. And were above average safeties
