We gave up a 3rd next year to move up in the 1st.
Heās starting to make me feel some sort of way, so I wonāt freak out if Brad snags him, rather than take long shots for OL later. He canāt find a Mahogany late every year, can he?
You made some other moves to get those draft slots.
Teams took Mahogany off their boards because of the short leg. I have no idea if there is some reason it would matter because he clearly showed it does effect how he plays football. Another 6th rounder was All pro OG Trey Smith for KC. He had a severe heart condition and was advised not to play football. KC still drafted him when every other team had him off their boards. Most people just remember the guys that hit and not the hundreds that fall by the wayside.
Yea I had to do some wheelin and dealin. I traded down and picked up Jonah and then I was not expecting to draft a RB that early but I thought Sampson was too good to pass on at that point. So then I had to make more moves to make sure I still got a good edge in Jones. As for Jonah I think he would be our starting RG from day 1 and much better than Glasgow and he will be cheap for 4 years.
thought this was interesting info to Post
Dear lord Josiah Stewart

ājosiah Stewart is the most impressive part of mason grahams tapeā hahaha
Sawyer & James Pearce .

Gonna take a look at stewart, hes gone unnoticed to me a bit.
My mock draft this week. Shamelessly jumping on the Oladejo hype train! And a silly swing for Thornton late on day 3!
Yeah his stats are sure unnoticeable
The problem with pass-rush win rate is itās still without context.
First off, despite these being from actual dropback situations, some players still donāt get to rush the passer. Or they get to do it AFTER they take care of their other jobs first. This includes Mykel, Stewart pretty frequently, Scourton some of the time, Matlack, Batty, JTT earlier in the year, etc⦠Also Jihaad often dropped into coverage in actual drop back situations, did those count against him? What if he feigned forward then dropped back?
This number really only matters if the player actually gets to pin their ears back and go after the QB. There are a lot of them, but even then thereās context. Mike Green and David Walker did it against guys who will be coaches in two years. Que Robinson was just as likely to have been resting on 1st and 2nd down, on and on.
The flip side of this is if there was a ārun defense win rateā for clear running downs, many guys near the top would be at the bottom and many guys at the bottom would be at the top. Oliver, Stewart, Green, Pearce, Robinson, Princely, Swinson, etc⦠This is one of the main reasons people are so high on Elijah Roberts. One of the few guys who would be high on all of them.
Iām guessing the real evaluators arenāt looking at charts but game tape. However, that does impress meā¦
Usage/assignments varies a ton for quite a few of these guys. Not sure one to one comps carry that much value.
I think the only time you can actually see this is during the Senior Bowl practices in the one on one drills and it will sway the evaluation process. Other than that you have to watch the tape.
Statistics can be so misleading in football. In baseball if one guy carrys an OPS of 900 and the other guy has an OPS of 650 over a 162 game season you can conclude one guy hit better than the other. The small sample sizes and variables in football make most of this stuff irrelavant.
Seems people only bring this type stuff up when there either trying to push a guy up or down in a debate.
Pass rush win rate is something very useful when judging players , like most stats itās not be all end all. But it can tell you a lot. This mostly has to do with Stewart because the guys has all this ability but his stats donāt show it. But his stats are not just bad they are non existing. I wouldnāt touch him not in the first Rd. I guy could stumble and make more plays. Some is trying to compare his situation to Walker . But walker did show some. Stewart is a big athletic freak but it has not translated to the field much at all.
I get it, but you said the same thing about the Georgia guys and theyāve turned out pretty great. SOMETIMES context actually does matter.
Sure it does and I agree , especially with Georgia guys Lol. I was on the Carter wagon after you and husker pointed stuff out. And I can see explosion with Stewart but he seems just not a good rusher no plan, Scourton plays on same team and has had some really good stats and a great pressure rate he plays on same team. Seems to me one thing stats canāt tell you that is very important in this game is instincts that were I think Stewart struggles and is part of the reason his stats are what they are and Scourton thrives in that and is part of the reason one has stats and one dont
