2025 Mock Draft Thread

You’re certainly not alone loving him that much, but I am very hesitant, as you know. He’s on my all-highlight-reel team, along with Sai’vion Williams, Isaiah Bond, and Xavier Watts. The flashes make them seem like world beaters, but the down-to-down stuff tells a different story. Nolen just has really poor awareness to me, finding the ball is gonna be a real issue for him. Which you could see in the games he disappeared. The opposing offense just let him do his thing and ran away from him lol.

Usually I agree. My problem is that it’s risky. That’s what scares me a little. It really isn’t easy at all to find great OL players later. And for me this team needs to stay elite. There’s no way I can trust Mahogany right now.

Whoa, if you think Dareus was that good then yeah, we’re not gonna agree on this. He wasn’t anywhere near the player McCoy or Suh were.

I think most of those players - given context - were C grades or worse. If you disagree with that grading then yeah, you’re not gonna agree with my point.

But I bet if you go ask the fans of all the teams that took those players if they were disappointed by them in the long run, I bet every single one of them would say yes. I know I was disappointed with A’Shawn Robinson, and I think most everyone in here would agree.

And I include day 2 picks because they’re valuable!

A lot is opinion. Dareus was one of the best DT’s in the NFL and they resigned him to a mega contract. Was he an A+ player? Or B +? Or C+? I dont really understand your grading system. Evenif he was B+ which 100% i dont think is debatable (at least) thats still an excellent player and draft pick. Suh is overrated. McCoy was probably the best, but his run stopping wasn’t great. Different flavors. 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounder’s etc are valuable, but you’re judging them on a high grade scale at least i think.

I don’t know what other fans think. I can say I wish Jamo was better. You might think I’m wrong.

Well it’s the draft, nothing’s easy. It’s not easy to find great OL players early either. Just look at the Saints drafts. They’ve spent a ton of 1st round capital on their OL and it hasn’t been more than average over that span, and Penning looks like a bust too.

The fact is the hit rate on day 2 is essentially the same as day 1. I went through last year on another post, but the hit rate in rounds 2-4 was astounding, only one complete miss, and a few guys immediately became some of the best in the league at their position (Puni, Frazier, McCormick, Powers-Johnson).

The year before the hit rate was really high too. If you go back and look it’s very consistent. Especially on day 2.

That makes me feel super good if they decide to do this. But still worries me. because I don’t want some average player. I mean, there’s a reason these OL which including IOL go in the 1st round and very high. If teams had the strategy of “we can get a great one later” then no one would go early.

You pick who you think is the best. For me I wouldn’t want to gamble that.

“Marcell Dareus’ six-year, $108 million contract extension with the Bills. Dareus will receive $60 million guaranteed, most for a non-QB in NFL history.”

He was one of the best DT’s in the NFL.

I think Mahogany will be fine as he showed throughout his career at BC and the games he played for us last year. My concern is having Glasgow as a starter at either OG. Sme think moving him back to the RG spot is going to make him an all pro. He is a weak link in an otherwise very good O Line. If Rags and Sewell have to stay on the double team blocks with him it prevents them from doing what they do best. Zeitler was a big improvement over Glasgow at RG because he could sustain a block. I think because he is an experienced center and money will keep him here 1 more year. I fully expect he will be a cap cut next year and save us about 6 mil.

Thats part of my concern. This team needs to start getting younger and look for long term players. GG declined. So did Decker. Rags is always a question mark remember people thought he was retiring? There’s no way I can say right now that Mahog is good or bad. And I don’t want fine. I want this OL to stay elite.

For all i know, their current starters will be elite for the next 3 years. It just my worry.

I’ll say this:

This team went to the NFCCG, went 15-2 without Hutch. and a broken defense. If I had a choice to keep the OL elite or try to improve the DL with the risk of the OL dropping, it’s OL for me every day. This is coming from a defensive minded fan. Don’t fix what’s not broken.

@Thats2 I know you agree with me brother. We just have some different opinions, but a lot we agree. I hope you’re not taking anything the wrong way. I really enjoy discussing with you.

I would say the scale is basically, did the fanbase end up disappointed with the pick? That’s a good way to grade it.

Yes, Dareus signed that big contract, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that his best year came in the contract year immediately preceding it. The Bills literally dumped him within two years of him signing. He also blamed Rex Ryan for having too complicated of a defense, got suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, publicly slammed his head coach, and was suspended multiple times for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. I mean in an Instragram post within a year of signing the contract he said, and I quote:

“I resign. I don’t wanna play no more. Thanks for the 60 mil.”

What?

Look, he wasn’t a trash player obviously. Made a couple of pro bowls, for all that’s worth. But for the #3 overall pick? And for all that money? Yeah, he’s a disappointment.

Yeah no worries. I definitely agree that the OL can’t fade, just disagree with how we go about making sure that happens.

But we definitely disagree on Dareus :smirk:

Ha, that’s overstating it. Some think he’ll be fine, and the line will be fine overall just like it was 2 years go. Hell, last year too really. I’d prefer to get him replaced, but we can’t always get what we want when it comes to NFL rosters.

I’m not here to “Cape” for Glasgow but he was one of the best run blocking guards in the NFL in 2023 at RG and only gave up 2 sacks in pass protection.
In the 2023 season, Graham Glasgow, the Detroit Lions’ guard, had a strong performance in run blocking, earning a PFF run-blocking grade of 82.1, which ranked him fifth among all qualified NFL guards. He also started in 15 out of 17 games.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

  • PFF Run-Blocking Grade: 82.1 (5th among qualified NFL guards).
  • Overall PFF Grade: 75.1 (career-high, 8th among qualified NFL guards).
  • Games Played: 15 of 17.
  • Pass-Blocking Snaps: 614.
  • Sacks Allowed: 2.0.

C’mon man. Every player (Jamo, Goff, draft picks before they played, Stafford) would be gone or traded. AG first one fired. DC would have been gone his 2nd season. :grinning: I get it though so I’m messin.

I mean, the point is Dareus was a very good DT. He was one of the best. I don’t fully understand or agree with your grading scale. I mean, you said Suh was better? Suh was an asshole who got dumped also and couldn’t find another team to play with.

Regardless we understand each others points for sure.

Let me ask what you think. There’s a big difference between finding good DL at 28 and finding good OL at 28. That kind of worries me too. Of course, Brad is great, but we can only judge draft value. So, i find it very much more difficult to find a great edge or DT at 28 then it is to find a great IOL player.

Why did you leave out his pass blocking grade?

Generally speaking most of the league’s best DL come from the 1st. There’s enough that come outside of it that I wouldn’t call them outliers or anything, but teams are definitely better at finding the best DL on draft day than most other positions.

OT almost always comes from the 1st, unless you’re the Packers. Very difficult to find one later, and when that happens it’s almost always the second (again, unless you’re the Packers). Hopefully we break that trend with Manu.

But RB and iOL are the easiest positions to find later (and WR to a lesser extent). If you just go through the league’s depth charts you can see this, there are more starting interior lineman drafted outside the first than in it. Aside from RB, that’s not really true at any other position (well, kicker, punter and long-snapper but those don’t count). WR, LB and S are pretty close to 50/50. CB skews 1st round, and QB, DL, OT are heavily 1st round.

But that’s not a hard and fast rule, obviously. Amik and DJ Reed were both later hits (due to size), and Frank and Gibbs are studs from the 1st at positions that don’t require it. If the conviction’s there around a prospect, I’m all for it.

It’s just for me, in this draft, Cambpell and Membou are the only OL I’m really convicted about. We’ll see how Brad feels about it.

Again I don’t know how you can look at that resume I posted above and call him one of the best. But it’s clear you believe he was and I doubt I’m changing your mind at this point.

I left out the pass blocking grade because I didn’t say he was a great pass blocker.
I said he was one of the best run blocking guards:
ESPN listed Glasgow as having the 2nd best Run Block Win Rate of ALL IOL in 2023.
As far as his pass blocking, he only gave up the 2 sacks.
He was also considered the 8th best guard Overall in 2023 by PFF.
So thinking Glasgow could be good with a return to RG is not a stretch.

I know many have planned on replacing Ragnow for years now (me included) since he made the comment about possibly retiring.
But that was years ago and Rags has been adamant that he has no intention to retire.
Rags is only 28.
He is still a top 5 center.

I think it is likely that he is extended before he is replaced.

In 2023 Jamaal Williams had a 1000 yards and led the league in TDs. He was released by the Saints. Aging players in their decline don’t usually get better. I don’t have access to the PFF stats but I would be curious to see the numbers for Glasgow last year. I do not expect him to get better. As long as we have Goff as our QB I think having OGs that can set a pocket should be a priority.
