25/26 NCAAB season; MSU UM and more

Looks like Philon did exactly what I was talking about him needing to do down the stretch last night.

Aiden Sherrell is almost the exact same as Joel Embiid, except for the offensive skillset and the fact that he’s a bit shorter and doesn’t rebound as well.

He’s not soft, but he could be so much more physical on the glass.

Watching the last night’s game this morning earlier tip tonight, thankfully. Defense showed up, they had flashes in the last few games and much more consistent last night.

I fell asleep at halftime. I still can’t believe they ended up winning by 40 points.

The must have completely dominated the 2nd half.

They did.

“Their defense is giving you what they want to give you. Can you make enough (mid-range shots) to beat them? That’s the question,” said San Diego State coach Brian Dutcher, a former longtime Michigan assistant.

“Obviously, we weren’t big and strong enough to have an impact on the glass. The keys of the game for us were transition defense, which they ran us for a ton of fast-break points … and rebounding. If you don’t hit either one of your first two keys, it’s hard to win. We didn’t, and that’s a credit to them and their talent and the coaches that get them ready to play.”

Both teams seem to be legit. Only difference one didn’t pay for a team. But Michigan is smart by doing it

I believe two Spartans were listed in the top ten last year for total NIL money received. Haven’t looked up this year as it doesn’t matter to me but seems to be a consistent point of yours.

So MSU is also paying for it’s team, portion of etc

10 million. I believe for transfers. Msu also didn’t have any one near what Michigan got the rankings.

Yea, i was just looking it up I knew it was a lot.

One thing I have long thought, and several UM friends drove that thought, with regards to paying players is it would give UM a chance to compete for high profile players that they wouldn’t get before NIL. That is proving true.

They still need to come up with a uniform methodology across all conferences and almost more importantly; states.

Michigan should do it…its not against the rules at all. Its smart …and may is a very good coach. You guys got lucky to get him after the shit show with Howard. That’s not me saying Michigan isn’t a good school to coach at all.

One more thing, and again smart. Lendeborg actually got more money to stay at uofm over the draft. Izzo top pay players are players that were going to leave and thats not buying a team

Michigan paid for a good coach and a good roster. So do the Yankees, Georgia, the Lakers, etc. That’s how teams maximize their chance at winning. College sports is just a paid league now. The teams with the cash will win more than the ones that have to coach them up. Moreso in football than anything else, but somewhat is basketball as well. And I say this as a Sparty fan. It’s basically money now that will separate the majors from the minors. College sports was nice while it lasted. Blah that sounds so morose.

So nil helps the rich and kills the middle class to make them pour

It’s why I said changes need to be made to level the playing field on how NIL is being handled. No consistent rules or governing body and states have their own rules that differ adding more confusion.

Hurts small programs as well. Im not sure what rules they can even do at this point. One i thought of was you get one transfer and the next you have to sit the next year with zero nil paid. Its a mess right now. Not fair for the bottom eaters.

Houston Tennessee heading towards a good ending, part of the NIL tournament I posted about elsewhere.
1pt game with 3min left.

NIL cannot be managed by the NCAA. Hasn’t this already been decided by the courts?

The NCAA did come out and set some rules for athletes being paid by the University and NIL.

Direct compensation is currently capped at $20.5 mil to be used across all sports within any one University.

The NCAA is also trying to have over-sight on third party NIL deals with the language being that it cannot be just “pay for play”. Has there been a single NIL deal reported as being invalid since they came up with these rules? Not that I’ve heard of. My guess is that these “third parties” are smart enough to know how to work around the language the NCAA is trying to enforce on these NIL deals and are left pretty much powerless to enforce anything related to NIL.

Not sure what else the NCAA can do. I’m sure they don’t want to end up back in court with $billion dollar settlements because they are unlawfully preventing athletes from earning money on their own……Name, Image, Likeness.
