When did he do? Blame players? Have you ever watched an Izzo conference after a loss? He always makes excuses and blames everyone but himself. It’s fine Marty I know you can’t handle anyone talking bad about your beloved. No need to be nasty.

He actually blames himself a ton. He says his players need to work on things…good take there. Funny how ton players come and visit him. And say good things about him. Wired huh. Oh and if so why does he have a top recruiting class coming in?

The Player’s ERA tournament is interesting because strength of victory is so vital to making the Championship game, so you couldn’t really extrapolate much about Michigan against SDSU and Auburn, since they were playing for the +20 and those teams knew it was over for them. But then came the game against Gonzaga. I mean, the coaches son was put in the game before the last T.V. timeout, and they still won by 40.

At this uofm is a final four team and more. I doubt they can keep shooting like this, but who knows.

The thing that has impressed me the most is how the team seems to be gelling and enjoy playing with each other. Granted that is a take from watching them and then seeing them interact in post games press conferences.

What I liked
The defense has shown through against high level competition.
Turnover’s decreased against good teams.
The offense has options they can run and play set offenses.
They have a strong two point offense and plenty of 3pt shooters. if one isn’t working they can go to the other.
The size of this team is impressive and isn’t just the front court.
They have 2-3 players coming off the bench that would start for a lot of teams.

They have to be one of the favorites for the tournament, but, as we have seen anything can happen so nothing guarranteed. But so fun to watch

# Michigan wins Players Era Festival title in blowout win over Gonzaga

“I mean, come on. Literally every aspect of the game I could talk about was lacking,” said Gonzaga coach Mark Few, minutes after the worst loss of his 902-game career. “We just got absolutely throttled. So, I’ve never been involved with anything like that.”

The 40-point final margin was, as you might expect, the most lopsided of Few’s storied career. Coaches with Few’s resume — almost 750 wins, 20 West Coast Conference championships since 2000, two national championship game appearances — simply do not find themselves on the other end of losses like this… unless they run into an actual buzzsaw, like the Zags last did in the 2021 national championship game against Baylor. The last time Gonzaga lost by 40 points or more? Way back in 1990, to Loyola-Marymount — when Few was in his first season as a grad assistant with the program.

On the flip side, also unsurprisingly, Wednesday’s win was Michigan’s largest over an AP ranked team ever. And if you also factor in the Wolverines’ 30-point blowout over Auburn a night earlier, then it’s the first time in the history of the AP poll (dating back to 1948-49) that a team has beaten consecutive ranked opponents by 30-plus.

So, yes. A historic blowout in every sense.

“This is just scratching the surface of us, fellas,” Michigan coach Dusty May told his team in the postgame locker room, drenched from an impromptu water bottle shower. “This can’t be the pinnacle of our season. This has to be the starting point.”

What a terrifying thought: not just for the rest of the Big Ten, but for all of college basketball’s elite, who learned in the loudest possible way Wednesday that if they want to cut down the nets in Indianapolis in April, they almost surely will have to go through the juggernaut that won its three Players Era games by a stupefying combined margin of plus-110.

So, how did May do it? Build a team that shredded the Zags’ typically-stout defense like tissue paper?

Michigan is a juggernaut, team has scary high potential especially that frontcourt.

It’s also really nice to see Webber and Rose on the TNT panel together. As a fan of The Fab Five growing up, it brings back all sorts of nostalgia for me. I know the two had a falling out previously so it’s cool to see them patch it up.

Yea, that hit me at one point during the game vs Auburn when the two of them were having fun on the halftime show. Good to see.

You probably know more about bball than I do, I’m as casual as casual gets. Having watched them three times so far this year though, I think they can win any way. Doesn’t strike me as a team that needs to be hot shooting to win

The rankings are so fluid this time of year but I bet they’ll be #1 when the new poll comes out. They certainly look like the best team now.

Meh, they had been inconsistent coming into this week so rankings make sense.
I think they move up but to be honest they need to be in the top four come March. Thats what matters.

I doubt it. Arizona’s resume is still superior and Purdue is unlikely to drop from 1. Michigan will be ranked 3rd in all likelihood. Maybe they jump Zona to 2.

That was certainly the most dominant stretch of the season. They also struggled with a middling to bottom of the BigXII team in TCU and a good but not great Wake team.

They’re clearly a threat to win it all and May is a great coach. Once they get deep into the tournament they will be going against teams with more NBA dudes but that’s not the end of the world. That’s also true of Purdue though and nobody scoffs at the idea of them being tournament favorites.

Personally I think UCONN will be the favorites once they get fully healthy.

I didn’t realize MSU UNC was after this game.

great win by Sparty. 3 ranked wins leading into Duke. Breslin will be crazy.

Awesome to see both in state bball teams relevant and winning!

When Bama makes shots we are a top 3 team in college basketball.

Who are 1 and 2?

Michigan, UConn, Purdue, Zona and Duke are the five teams that I’m most sold on. Houston may get there as well.

Oh I have no idea. I just mean that this version of us is very very good.

Arkansas blowing out Louisville was not something that I was expecting.
