Tom Kennedy isn’t a 53 guy he’s a life long PS dude
Can see us claiming Charlie Jones then moving Small to PS
Kinda protecting him from being claimed
Brad is smart with those waiver guys
I like Tom Kennedy -but the Kennedy project is old , time to move on.

Yep and if they dont get jones they can grab dortch or Kennedy for the role. Put small on in season inj reserve to open spot.

with jacobs on the exempt list, packers have to be looking for RBs. I wonder if keeping five has anything to do with that.

I think Dortch and Conklin will be back sometime after week one. Having them on the roster week one makes their contracts fully guaranteed.
You only need a punt returner for one week most likely.

Greg Dortch has a guaranteed minimum contract and I think he will be back for the Saints game. Conklin had zero guaranteed money and, IMO, won’t be back, barring a significant injury in the TE room.
I am curious about pay and agreements with Small and McGlaughlin, if Brad offered sweetners to obligate them to the team after they’re demoted to the practice squad, kinda like what Brad did with Ahmed Hassanein last year.

Ironic -we grumble about not having any depth pieces the last couple years, then when we have depth-even at RB, it’s “like gawd why do we have to have five RB’s ??” 
Both are Veterans and their contracts become fully guaranteed if they’re on the roster week one.
My understanding is by cutting them and them not being on the Lions roster week one means they’re contracts are no longer guaranteed.
Dortch I think will be back week two.
Conklin could be if he’s still available when the Lions have the ability to make room a few weeks down the road.
