Alim is being paid $3M this year. Nothing guaranteed after TY, obviously he is a FA going into next year.
Knowing players get injuries, if you were in his shoes, would you consider a 3 year extension with some guarantees that would put over $30M in your bank account?
Get him extended now while we can afford it:
Signing bonus, $30M, average salary $18-20M.
By the start of the 25 season, it will look like a great deal for the Lions. At the end of Alim’s extension, he’s 28 and set for another big pay day.
I believe it’s been reported that Alim told his agent that he didn’t want to hear any contract stuff until after the season.
Players usually like to gamble on themselves. I don’t blame him. He can buy a big insurance policy and then go for the cash.
Lets say Alim has a huge season and is pushing for an enormous contract. We could tag him. That’s 1 negotiating tool Holmes has. I’m not saying I want to do that… but it’s an option.
