Amon-Ra St. Brown is the best WR in football!

So its been a debate in the NFL for a couple years now.

But since St Brown was drafted (2021). He is clearly the best WR.
Just comparing vs the other “top 5” guys.
JJ, CD, AJ, Chase, London, Wilson.

Catch Rate. St Brown is nearly 77%
CD is closest at 71% everyone else in mid 60%

St Brown is UNDER 0.5 fumble/ 17 games.
Everyone else over 1.

INT when targeted
St under 2 / 17 games.
Everyone else is over 3.

Drop rate under 3%.
JJ and London are right there too. Every one else 3.5+%

Hes on track to be the youngest player EVER to get to 500 receptions.
On track to get it during the Giants game.
Which hell be 26 years and 20 days old.

Beating out JJ and Larry Fitz by 70 days.

It’s a strange thing to say about a possession receiver with mid-tier speed, yet here we are.

It is fair to say he is maximizing his potential.

He for sure is shorter and is not blazing fast. I mean I will say it, he is not fast for a WR he is average at best. But he is a technician and he can catch the damn ball. He reminds me of a Pete Rose or a Tony Gwynn who grinds out every possession and every snap regardless of score.

At times I wonder if Goff has to make himself throw it to other guys. Because damn it would be so tempting to just feed ARSB. I heard a discussion on the radio that the first TD catch was a complete ad-lib by Goff and ARSB. Would be interesting to get the details.

The numbers don’t even include the intangibles, like how important he is for run blocking or how many of his catches are crucial plays. The Lions converted on 4th down three times against the Ravens and ARSB was involved in all of them: Two receptions and an option pitch to Gibbs. Those gotta-have-it plays are the difference between racking up fantasy points and actually winning the game.

I think we don’t give ARSB enough credit for his speed. Watching him play, he is constantly beating guys to the edge and upfield.

He plays fast with his brain!

His speed accelerating from a stop or out of a break is fantastic, which is perfect with how Goff likes to throw to a spot expecting his receiver get there.

I think you can safely call him top 5 at this point.

I’d still have atleast Puka, Chase and Jefferson ahead of him.

I forgot about puca.
Ill have to add his state.
Chase is ELITE at broken tackles and YAC.
But almost DOUBLE the drop rate over 6%

JJ is very close to St Brown

Tier list.
A - St Brown, Nacua, JJ
B- Lamb, Chase, Aj Brown.

Thats the “Top 5”

But chase is good after the catch. But before the catch. Not on the same level as the top 3.

This got me to looking at his draft analysis pre-draft. Here is what nfl.com ( Lance Zierlein) has to say about his weaknesses:

Weaknesses

  • Play strength might need upgrade against physical cornerbacks.
  • Press rides on him for early stages of the route.
  • Has had issues securing catchable throws underneath.
  • Very average foot quickness and long speed.
  • Could struggle to knock athletic corners out of route phase.
  • Below-average separation burst out of breaks.
  • Drifts into route turns at times.
  • Lacks stride to open up and find a second gear.
  • Very little grit in his run blocking.

This last bullet makes me laugh, what a miss on this analysis

Also from the same analysis

“Will eventually be average starter” ROTLMAO…goes to show what most of these guys know

Outside of Brock Purdy.

St Brown might be the biggest jumper in a “nfl redraft” i recent history.

Like purdy was taken 262
St brown 112

Both would be top 10 in a redraft

I dunno, he might stay up too late playing video games…..

Matt Patricia would have a lot to say about this one :joy::joy:

The thing he has that the guys like Jefferson/Chase/Lamb dont have is selfishness. You dont see him on the sideline crying over not getting the ball and he is not throwing a fit when he has to run block. If someone else succeeds because of him then that is all that matters is success.

Nope NFL live just said it’s Puka. I had t watched this show for months and decided to give it another try. Once again I’m done with it. Pretty sure the Lions didn’t even play a game Sunday.

That analysis is so bad that it seems like a spoof evaluation…literally saying the opposite of everything about ARSB.

I view them as being equal. As a homer I’d take the Sun God of course but Puka is very good as well.

That is only because we played a team with one win this week. If we beat teams like KC and Philly we will get our flowers.

I admit though that I can’t stand how much air time the cowboys get. It’s not deserved in any way and it’s the biggest reason that I don’t watch the morning shows on ESPN.
