Hypothetical:
4 years, $5M signing bonus spread over 4 years =$1.2M Per year.
Salary year 1= $1.2M Cap hit $2.4 Salary year 1 guaranteed.
Year 2 = $2.0 Cap hit $3.2
Year 3 = $3.0 Cap hit $4.3
Year 4 = $4.0 Cap hit $5.2
Year 4 is an easy out, cap hit for 3 years is not bad and year 4 is easy to walk away from.
For Alex, at signing he puts $6 Million in his pocket guaranteed. Sounds fair to both sides.
I will be good in the above scenario give or take a couple $$
IS there a team that will blow away the above offer?Alex Anzalone seems to looking for multi-year deal to stay with the Lions
I was thinking a 2 to 3 year deal so your idea of a 4 year deal with an easy out sounds perfect.
I want AZ back I also want the safety Elliott back give him a deal like Walker got just add couple years an yes little more money but general idea.
If Walker doesn’t get his play back after injury 2024 is easy cut. I think he will this season return help for solid Safety group.
I want a contract that we can effectively get out of after 1 or 2 years without too much cap hit.
Drew Sanders played in a 4-2-5 this season at Arkansas. He’s 6’5". There aren’t too many 6’5" guys with the tools to play LB so I think he goes earlier than most people think. He actually GETS to the QB (9.5 sacks this year) as opposed to Analzone, who ALMOST gets to the QB a lot.
After getting the top CB in the draft at #6, we take the top LB in the draft at #18.
I really like the information out on Sanders. It will be interesting to see his combine numbers. I would love your draft projection. The only difference for me is if Anderson or Carter are somehow at 6 we take them.
The projected numbers on Anzalone I’ve read in a couple places are too high for my liking. One was like 9 mil a year. I wouldn’t blame him for taking it if he got it. I just want a stud LB for once, some instincts and athleticism.
Nah and definitely not a 4 year deal no way.
He’s a fine 4th LB on a team, but if Reeves Maybin got 2 years 8 mil then AA should at least get 5 mil per year.
And we SHOULD get a compy picky @Phunnypharm doesn’t seem to think so , but I am hopeful
He’s obviously a high character guy and a good soldier but the talent isn’t really there and there’s no way the team should be making a three or four year commitment to someone who would be a priority for being upgraded on every single offseason. I’d give him two years with a cheap out after one, if someone else offers him a better deal then good luck and thanks for your service. He’s very replaceable.
Anzalone just seems like a JAG, I think it’s a position we need to upgrade.
I’d like Campbell from Iowa to fall to us in the middle rounds. They may not test as well as others but Iowa linebackers, linemen and tight ends just seem to always show up on sundays. They’re well coached and solid as they come. At worst he’d be good depth.
If not one of the top 2 LBs than this, to me, is a good option than over paying for Anzalone, if his numbers get crazy. We need depth.
I think he would be decent depth but I’m looking at him as an “end of draft” kind of guy, 6th or 7th round. ST, back LB.
I see a 3 year at 4 mill per year with a 6 mill signing bonus. 14 mill guaranteed.
I think he has higher upside than that.
I get so overwhelmed with the possibilities that I’m happy to sit back & trust Holmes.
As Lions fans, we are traditionally conditioned to want to keep any high character guys &/or decent player.
Holmes is SMASHING these selections & our “way of being” is changing.
I’m torn on him.
I love him as a locker room guy.
He’s smart & getting smarter…he will improve, buuuuut…I would like to see at least one super-speedy LB that can take advantage of the defensive line that we are creating.
Someone with range, speed, explosion, that can blitz really well & bring extra heat from the LB position. We will improve upon the dL. LBs will be running free. We need someone that…
Is fast AF that can cover to take away the hot routes
& can get home on the blitzes to take away opposition’s ability to let plays develop.
Bottom Line…I want more speed @LB…as well as more handsomeness.
Would love to have him as a very intelligent backup that is an A+ locker room guy.
Campbell is gonna HATE cuts every year…we will have some tough ones.
I’d make a call to David long jr from the Titans. He’s a free agent this year and is one of the best cover linebackers in the league. The downside is that he isn’t very big. I’m not sure how good he is against the run.
Some of the projected numbers seem way off the wall. Man, someone really needs to capture a list of the odd ones and see how many of them actually work out.
Did you see SF putting the hurt on Phillys running game before Purdy got injured? Hurts was held to sip.
I was late to the game. wasn’t as attentive as usual either.
He’s in a 3-4-4. Lions play a 4-2-5. Going from 4 LB’s down to 2 might be a big adjustment. 2 sub 6’ LB’s won’t work.
When you have players who produce, and he did, then you need to make an honest effort to bring them back. It’s not like we have a lot of depth at LB to begin with.
