For a 5th? We could’ve did this.

Bradbury is the definition of a stopgap C.

Bears likely going to draft one, and have him sit behind Bradbury for a year

The problem with that is that he’s not very good.

Froholdt is better. Especially given our play style.

Why do the pats always seem to get rid of their centers ?

Exactly… The market has been set, and I’m okay giving up a 5th for Froholdt… Especially after gaining a 4th for Monty, which I’d also be okay dealing for him.

As am I. 5th is fine. Make Taylor the crown jewel of the FA class. Flip Penei.

Sewell, Mahogany/Frazier, Froholdt, Tate, Taylor

Frazier/Scruggs, McLaughlin, Manu, Wills

That’s pretty damn solid. We can keep Taylor’s year one money low and be right around where we would be had Decker been kept.

I’d have a few names in front of Taylor… I don’t want any part of him

Agreed I don’t want want him either

I need to find the chart but it visualized on island pass protection sets. Taylor was amongst the best in the league. He’s a really high end pass protector. Like Pro Bowl level. But yes, there are then things that comes with that that bring him down a rung or two.

Also, I was just in KC visiting family and my cousin who is a die hard Chiefs fan was adamant that he is in fact really quite good in pass pro and that the penalties have gotten better.

Who would you prefer?

I used to have the same perception. Then when I really dug in I realized that was not reality.

His penalties are. And I do think he gets called for it more outside of playing away from the golden boy.

Bradbury sucks. Good on the move but a total liability against any power at all. Vikings fans hate him, they’re probably thrilled with this.

Makes that Scruggs toss in look even better for us

Truth be told, I’m probably spending a 1st round pick on the position… But as far as a vet goes, I’d be interested in Havenstein and Jones… Havenstein would be a great 1 year contract if they went with one of the OTs in the 2nd round. Jones would probably require a larger commitment

As I pointed out in a different threads his penalties have declined year over year. He had two less penalties than Darnell Wright last year and the same as Dion Dawkins and Orlando Brown.

And Taylor has made progress

2023 17 penalties for 115 yards

2024 14 penalties 100 yards

2025 10 penalties 80 yards

Retired

Braxton? He’s my favorite cheaper option but he’s very hit or miss and injury prone. But I brought him up months ago as perhaps my preferred cheap option.

Taylor is going to be heavily courted so no guarantees we can even snag him.

Bears trading for Patriots C Bradbury

On Friday, the Bears agreed in principle to send a 2027 fifth-round pick to the New England Patriots for center Garrett Bradbury, a source told ESPN. The trade cannot be processed until the new league year begins next Wednesday.

Three days after Drew Dalman’s surprising retirement, the Bears have their new center and didn’t need to break the bank to fill that void.

Bradbury, a 2019 first-round pick, spent the first six years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings before signing a two-year deal worth up to $12 million with New England in March 2025. The Bears will owe Bradbury $4.7 million on the final year of his contract
