Bears trade for Bradbury

Juwan Taylor is awful, and I want zero part of him. Husker, I don’t know who your Chiefs friend is, but my Chief friends here are celebrating from the moment the Chiefs announced he will be cut. They are now giving me shit that the Lions will sign him, and how happy that will make them.

He is a penalty machine, and they are drive killers. One stat frequently NOT cited is how many times Taylor committed a penalty and the other team declined it, because they already had the stop. Taylor was benched, THIS YEAR, for constant penalties. Travis Kelce was in Taylor’s face in week 2 because this has been a chronic problem for them.

A team with MAJOR offensive line issues, is getting rid of Taylor and is happy to do so. Stay away at all costs. Let him go get overpaid by the Raiders or a similar team who is super happy to overpay for a “Super Bowl vet”, like we used to.

That’s from October. This guy is NOT and never will be the answer.

Celebrity gif. Sitting in a car, an angry Tracy Morgan shakes his head vigorously and yells, “NOPE. NOPE. HMMMMM NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO HELL NO. NO! NO!”

This simply is not true. I believe that you are mistaken and clouded by perception from his renowned penalty problems especially in that 2023 season. It’s okay. I was too. But then I began peeling away layers of the onion and realized my perception was not reality.

Jawaan Taylor is what he is. He’s a gifted pass protector for at RT whose run blocking should be better than it is. And there are the penalty issues of course.

I have been over this. His 2023 mark of 17 was an issue for sure. Do you know who had 17 penalties in 2024? Laremy freaking Tunsil..

I’ve covered the penalties in this thread already. His 2025 penalty load was fine or very close to it and the trajectory is promising. If he carries the progress forward he’s likely at 8 which is a fairly unremarkable number.

See this leaves me wondering how much you actually know about the Chiefs. Their OL talent is actually quite good. Taylor’s cap number was 27m and the Chiefs signed Jaylin Moore to a 2/30m deal last year but then Simmons dropped so they double dipped. There was no way they could keep the three OTs one more year given their salary cap issues.

I fully expect Taylor to find a robust market bc he really is a gifted pass protector and that is what teams care most about.

I readily admit that he’s imperfect but he’s amongst the best of the veteran options. If you want to pay Rasheed Walker even more money for similar (though IMO inferior play) that is fine. If you want to go for a Braxton Jones type that is fine as well. I think there is some real danger in assuming that 17 is a lock to get a high level OT prospect. There is a very real shot of an early run given the lack of clear first rounders. Just last year OTs came off the board far more quickly than many expected.

It’s fine not to want Taylor. You are of course entitled to your opinion but the inaccuracies of your post would have come to light had you done a bit of research or perhaps asked me rather than making wrongheaded declarative statements. Oh well. Such is the internet.

I live here. I watch Chiefs games. All the time… I have Chiefs friends and listen to them talk football all the time. The casuals don’t like him. The die hards don’t like him. The coaches benched him. Chiefs players got in his face.

I don’t want Jones (Bears reject) or Rasheed Walker either. If I have my choice, I think the Lions go Mauigoa for RT. He is Sewell clone, and they pair them as the bookends for years to come.

You mentioned Simmons, the Chiefs signed Moore because they weren’t sure they would get an OT in the draft, and then Simmons fell. Taylor was playing so bad, that the Chiefs were beginning to work Moore at RT in practice to replace Taylor, until Simmons went AWOL and then injured his wrist.

Again, the Chiefs OL is not good. Humphries is still good, Trey Smith is a good player, but they have major weaknesses at LG, and only had iffy tackle play. If Taylor is truly a good player, then please go back and watch the Super Bowl against the Eagles again. The Eagles beat the holy hell out of that entire line, but they especially owned the tackles and forced Mahomes to be stuck spinning circles in the pocket, until the penetration from Davis/Carter got home. So a team that has serious OL issues still said goodbye to their RT, and their fans are all celebrating because of it, yeah that’s a hard no for me.

These are just the facts. Add this in. We all know the minute Taylor is gone from the Chiefs, the penalty magnet returns. Its the same as what TJ Lang saw when he left GB and came to the Lions. All of a sudden, perfectly “legal” holding was getting flagged every time. Facts are, certain teams get called for penalties more often than the darlings. Now, add in that every NFL ref keeps a sharp eye on Taylor and he was still getting flagged constantly, while on a team with the most protected player in the NFL, and you want him for the Lions and think that he won’t get flagged somewhere outside of KC?

Hell… No. I posted facts in my post. You are posting the “well, its not THAT bad.” If that’s your opinion, go for it, but I am not even close to sold. You’re banking on hopes and dreams that a chronic problem for 3 years is somehow getting better.

The Chiefs have one of the best forums in the NFL. It’s not hard to find out what they’re thinking.

Congratulations. Do you want a medal? They are on a lot of course. I watch them as well. But I’m in a different zip code. Is that disqualifying?

The die hards I just spoke with three weeks ago had a differing opinion.

Travis Kelce gets in Andy Reid’s face. So what?

He has virtually zero chance of being there. Arizona is rumored to love him at 3.

Why do people have so much trouble with this? Nothing you mentioned were “facts”. They were your opinions. Labeling the subjective as objective simply bc you dearly want them to be true is complete and utter nonsense.

Are you from the future? Did you pay extra for The Quantum Leap NFL Sunday Ticket or something? I mean sure that can happen. But basing an argument on the assumption of some conspiracy coming to fruition… no thank you.

The foundation of your argument is essentially, “trust me, bro. I live in KC.” I reject that premise.

I’m not wed to Taylor, I just think that given the bind that we are in he’s one of if not the best OT options out there. And I’m not going to allow my opinion be swayed by entrenched lazy and somewhat widespread groupthink.

Do you find message boards to be actionable intel? I do not. Maybe if you could filter out the yahoos which in my experience is often a sizable chunk of fan bases.

Better than beat writers for sure if it’s an active message board. They seem to have a fairly high opinion of Taylor. Say he’s overpaid. Talented. Good pass blocker. Takes a lot of penalties. They blame Chris Collinsworth that he gets called so much.

Nor should you. However, since you stated that my opinions are not based on facts, I provided you my own firsthand experience, talking to other people who the Chiefs are their team so they want them to win, and posted the penalty information from PFF, taking all of that information I made my own opinion.

Reject all the premises you want. You like to believe your own opinions are the only ones rooted in facts, while dismissing other points. Do you remember that whole conversation we had about Arthur Smith? You told me how wrong I was when I said Smith is not a good offensive coordinator. Well, what did the NFL think of Smith? Oh, that’s right. He had to go to college, because no NFL team wanted him. I guess maybe your high opinions about Smith weren’t shared by the NFL. Imagine that…

Let’s see where Taylor ends up with Free Agency, and how he does next year. Can’t wait to compare notes on this.

Well in that case I take it all back.

The issue is you’re too far on one side. There’s nuance involved. Just saying “no, he’s trash” doesn’t hold up. You can not like him while still admitting, for instance, he’s improved dramatically with the penalties. There’s data backing that up. And I mean, it’s pretty widely believed that he’s a good pass protector, your initial response makes no mention of that. Just, “he’s awful,” which just isn’t true. So it does start to feel like you just hate the guy and won’t entertain any discourse on the matter.

Again, this is just in your mind. You have absolutely no idea why Arthur Smith took the OSU job. It’s actually a pretty damn good job. Perhaps he wants a path to be a major CFB HC thinking that his NFL HC days are over.
You have no idea. Neither do I. Only Arthur and his agent really know. The difference is once again you are trying to present your opinion as some type of proof. I get that I could be wrong here and Taylor gets little interest in FA. My base case is the demand for his services is substantial. We shall see.

But go ahead and spike the football if that makes you feel better. Doesn’t bother me.

Is Froholt available?

To be clear, I think all of our realistic OT ideas should be viewed from the framework of:

Well we’re in this less than ideal situation with less than ideal solutions. I think Blake Miller could be okay next year. Not as good as I think Taylor would be. But I don’t even think it’s a guarantee that he makes it 17. Lomu I like more than you but I think he’d really struggle with power if forced to play early. We don’t need to rehash Proctor.

So even in the draft it’s fairly dicey. We could go for someone like Elumeunor. He’d be cheaper and played well last year. But his track record is even more spotty than Taylor’s and he had 20% more penalties last year according to the site that I have access to.

Yes, I just hate the guy.

I presented my evidence of why I don’t think Taylor is a good player. The Chiefs were prepping the bench Taylor before Simmons was no longer available due to a family issue and then injury. The Chiefs then cut him loose, even though their tackle situation isn’t sparkling. I guess the Chiefs just hate him too.

We hope so. No idea. One year left. They have Gaines who they spent a fourth on and are rumored to like and they are almost certainly rebuilding.

They were prepping to flip Simmons to the right side? I doubt that. They would have put Moore over there had they gone that route.

IMO the primary reason that he may not be a fit is that just like Rasheed Walker he’s fairly disinterested in run blocking.

Sure, there’s plenty of evidence against him. I’m not saying he’s a star. But he’s not a trash player, which is why he got paid once and will get paid again, has some pretty good metrics. You’re presenting only one side of the discussion, these things are not so black and white.

No, once Simmons proved he was holding his own at LT, the Chiefs were practicing Moore at RT prepping to bench Taylor. Which will be the expected starting tackle lineup for 2026. Once Simmons went out, they had to stick with Taylor at RT and played Moore at LT.

I wish I could find the Island Pass Protection chart from 2025. He was elite. Like top 3-5. Can’t recall if it was on X or Reddit.

That seems to be his calling card. Holding up in tough one on one pass pro settings. Consistency, penalties and grit in the run game seem to be the drawbacks.

That’s actually pretty similar to the Braxton Jones story when he’s good and healthy. The caveat being that’s only been an every other year scenario for him.

So there’s plenty of evidence against him…
If the Chiefs believe Taylor is a worthwhile investment, why are they walking away from him?
