I live here. I watch Chiefs games. All the time… I have Chiefs friends and listen to them talk football all the time. The casuals don’t like him. The die hards don’t like him. The coaches benched him. Chiefs players got in his face.
I don’t want Jones (Bears reject) or Rasheed Walker either. If I have my choice, I think the Lions go Mauigoa for RT. He is Sewell clone, and they pair them as the bookends for years to come.
You mentioned Simmons, the Chiefs signed Moore because they weren’t sure they would get an OT in the draft, and then Simmons fell. Taylor was playing so bad, that the Chiefs were beginning to work Moore at RT in practice to replace Taylor, until Simmons went AWOL and then injured his wrist.
Again, the Chiefs OL is not good. Humphries is still good, Trey Smith is a good player, but they have major weaknesses at LG, and only had iffy tackle play. If Taylor is truly a good player, then please go back and watch the Super Bowl against the Eagles again. The Eagles beat the holy hell out of that entire line, but they especially owned the tackles and forced Mahomes to be stuck spinning circles in the pocket, until the penetration from Davis/Carter got home. So a team that has serious OL issues still said goodbye to their RT, and their fans are all celebrating because of it, yeah that’s a hard no for me.
These are just the facts. Add this in. We all know the minute Taylor is gone from the Chiefs, the penalty magnet returns. Its the same as what TJ Lang saw when he left GB and came to the Lions. All of a sudden, perfectly “legal” holding was getting flagged every time. Facts are, certain teams get called for penalties more often than the darlings. Now, add in that every NFL ref keeps a sharp eye on Taylor and he was still getting flagged constantly, while on a team with the most protected player in the NFL, and you want him for the Lions and think that he won’t get flagged somewhere outside of KC?
Hell… No. I posted facts in my post. You are posting the “well, its not THAT bad.” If that’s your opinion, go for it, but I am not even close to sold. You’re banking on hopes and dreams that a chronic problem for 3 years is somehow getting better.
